So I just bought a brand new 2017 base Mustang GT, I traded in my ecoboost mustang for it and I couldn't be happier. It is also my first manual transmission, the 5.0 is a complete blast! I'm getting hit hard by the mpg but what did I expect lol.
I was wondering if you guys have any advice on the up keep of the car as well as first mods, best bang for buck deals, etc.

thank you in advance

Enjoy! Something I need to do soon is change the transmission fluid to the BG brand stuff. Helps a lot with the Manual transmission. A good suspension mod is the BMR CB005. I had to get an exhaust first though as it was too quite for a muscle car.

Congratz on the elevation to a GT. The car has a lot of character compared to it's siblings. But yeah, it drinks gas.

I could crack 3 hours Houston to Dallas in my BMW pretty easy but this GT I have to watch the speed and the MPG pretty close. I'm on fumes when I coast into the hotel or my house.

My suggestion for first mods would be tires, progressive springs. I haven't upgraded any bushings, lock outs, etc, but just changing wheels/tires and lowering the car got rid of much of the wheel hop, unless you are on a drag strip, I still get it a little. Cheapest power mod will be a tune. Bolts ons after tunes are just chasing small amounts of power for lots of money IMO. I would save those things for later down the road when you absolutely get bored with the car, unless you come across a really good deal.

I've had my GT since the end of June and already have 143XX non DD miles on it and I have yet to get bored with it when it comes to power. All I am running is a e85 flex tune from Lund. I paid $250 for a used SCT tuner which are always for sale in the used section, and $300 ($200 if you don't do e85) for the lund tune. I also have the Borla S-Type catback which I love. To me, it's one of the best sounding exhausts with the stock headers. It has really nice deep tones in the lower RPM and screams when you wind it out. But exhaust is all preference. I got mine lightly used for $650+my stock exhaust.

There are some pretty cheap catback systems out there but just be careful because a lot of them will have droning. I would try to stick with a reputable company.

What are your plans for the car? Do you care about warranty?

Catback or axleback, suspension, tires, then under hood (tune, CAI, etc.)..in that order.

I'm gonna go ahead and disagree with everyone else.

I think the first mod you should make should be to your profile which lists an ecoboost.

GT?

350 IM, decent intake (PMAS or gt350 i think is the go-to now. id reccomend an enclosed box type to deal with IAT issues), LU47 injectors, Lund Flex Fuel, Cattless Longtubes. exhaust of your choice.

should make for a fun car.

or turbos :D
