I keep a small toolbag filled with stuff that would help in semi common scenarios.

Lithium Battery Jump Starter
12V Air Compressor
1/2" breaker bar and a set of flip lug sockets
Multitip screwdriver

If something requires more than that, it can wait till I get home, or it's gonna get towed.

Im thinking some of the "I don't need no tools" people are the ones that don't know how to turn a wrench anyway.

Also

$467.99
So....you can fix a computer on the side of the road with tools?? Just asking! I am a true car guy. I see lots of cars on the side of the roads and highways with the hood up on a new car and I wonder....... "What the hell are they actually looking at" ????

I carry a Dewalt tool bag in my trunk tied back by the rear seats with a carabiner. It's not so much for working on the Mustang but handling any jobs I run into out in the field.

So it's a basic set of hand tools, metric and english. A Porter Cable impact drill, gloves, duct tape, heavy duty shears, allen wrenches, a light chisel, vice grips, assorted zip ties, some JB weld, Gorilla glue, jumper cables, some 9mm ammo and a couple of flash lights.

They are looking for the giant "on / off" switch.

Even if it is something very simple that you could fix with a common tool and be on your way?

It's a new car. My hope is that I don't need to fix anything for a long time. All my other new cars never broke down on the road and I've been buying new cars since 1987. I'll go with that.

Not only that but if my Mustang went bad I don't think I could fix it. I'm mechanically inclined but I think there's to much going on with these modern cars. If I was driving a Classic car from the 60's or 70's I would absolutely have tools. Almost bought one before this car but I decided that I don't want to work on my cars anymore. I just want to get in and turn the key and go. Maybe change the oil and other light maintenance or have the dealer do it.

Or the reboot button. Which not joking does solve some issues on modern cars. I've fixed a few cars in limp mode by shutting them down for 30 seconds then restarting.

As in just turning off the ignition? Or is there something that can be done with an OBDII (clearing a code)....or something else entirely?

Thanks

At a track day in Georgia I had my C6 go into limp mode after I ran off the end of a straight away. They towed it back to the paddock and when I restarted it, everything was fine.

My BMW had a traction control problem crop up after a spin at the track, that was remedied by using the same technique. I also cleared power steering fault on the S550 the same way. So it's been a pretty handy.

Not sure you shared whether you're referring to a tool or just restarting the car.

Thanks

Just restarting the car. The tool is your finger and maybe the knowledge to try the restart procedure if there isn't any smoke or grinding noises occurring before hooking it up to the tow truck.
