Tools you store in your S550?

I'm not sure what parts commonly need adjustment, tightening, fixing on the S550 but yesterday I saw something I thought was interesting for the Roush models...a trunk lid mounted took kit. I'm not sure whether it's useful or hokey. But I typically keep a set of sockets, screw drivers, vise grips, light, gloves, etc. in my Subaru. Can do damn near anything with those on a Subaru.

What do you keep with you tool-wise?

I didn't buy another new Mustang to have to cart tools around. That would be counter to the point of buying a new car.

Driving a crappy car? Yeah, you might need some tools.

I also saw that Roush kit. $500 !!!!
I carry a small bag of tools in the spare wheel well.
Went to Sears, got a bag and filled it with the basics.
I have used them more to help other people than myself.

Holy crap!! I thought that was cool the way it mounted to the lid, but it's maybe...MAYBE $75 worth of tools and then $25 worth of other stuff. Otherwise, yeah, a small bag of the basics would seem to do just fine.

The main thing I've been thinking about is a compact non-scissor/bottle jack and a full sized spare for the trunk. My hope would be that tools to fix something that breaks on a brand new car wouldn't be needed.

Im thinking some of the "I don't need no tools" people are the ones that don't know how to turn a wrench anyway.

I'm more in the I'll have it towed and work in the comfort of my garage. No need to have tools banging around in the trunk.

But if you blow $500 on the Roush kit it'll mount to the trunk lid and has gourmet foam separating the tools so no banging around is had.

Should always have something " just in case". At minimum, a multimtool like a leatherman or similar.

But, most people today cant or won't even change a flat tire. On another forum, one guy was so adamant about his road side assistance, waited over two hours for a tow to the dealer with a flat tire. I would have been on the road after a ten minute change.

Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I have a 2.5 ton jack, a socket set with a 1/2" adapter and a 1/2" ratchet wrench, impact 1/2" sockets, breaker bar, vice grip, screw drivers, crescent wrench, electrician's tape, zip ties, and a tire gauge.

If anything, if I don't need them, someone else might. Just being mindful, that's all. And it's not like it's an inconvenience really. Put em in the trunk and leave em.

I don't have a spare tire to change a flat. I also have AAA. I pay for a service that I'd use as well given the opirtunity.

Exactly. I have. 91 Toyota pickup. It has been a great vehicle but it's got some years and miles so having tools to fix a coolant hose or something like that is necessary.

Have roadside? - Check

If I don't need to use either one of those then it's most likely something that can wait until I pull up to my garage to fix.

The only tool I have in my car is tire pressure gauge to double check.
