I bought this crappy ass windshield mount that has a long arm and has a piece that grabs a phone. During my racing event today, I noticed that the damn arm kept swinging left and right during hard corners (auto cross event), so the mount sucks. I mounted it to the back window so that the arm could stretch and center the phone perfectly between the seats so that the shifter shows + the road.

Anyone have any other better ideas? A short mount would result in the camera showing too much of the back seats, so I was hoping for something that could stretch out to the middle of the seats from the back window.

Wedge the phone in the passenger seat head rest?? Lift it up, put phone in, lower.

Not exactly from your POV but may work. I've done it before.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have recaros. Can't adjust headrest. Closest I could do to that is squeezing the phone in between the two seatbelt holes -- whatever they're called (I guess if some people have roll cages and have two seatbelts going through the seats, they're those things).

I have the same issue with my Recaros. I was looking at this mount because it shows a picture of it working with a racing seat.

Whoa, now this looks EXACTLY like what I need. I'm sure I may be able to figure out a way to get a phone to attach to it as long as the mount is nice and stable like that. This is beautiful! Thank you for the link dude. I'm gonna look around for some similar to this and see if I can run across anything.

No problem! I already have a 1/4" thread tripod adapter for my phone that I bought from Amazon. So I'm thinking that might work.

I was going to suggest those arms but if you've got Recaro's how are you mounting it? Doesn't it need the headrests 'arms' to attach to?

Based on this image, it looks like it should mount just like ours:

From what I can tell on the mount though, the arm has 2 pieces that can disconnect/connect to each other to secure in those holes. You can see the mount where the holes are in the seat that he only used the two inner screws and left the outer ones out.
