I like the 6 Gen Camaro especially from a performance standpoint. I just wish if they wanted to stay retro, they would have looked to the second gen Camaro, and moved forward from there.
This.

I've said the same thing many times. A modern take on the '70-'73 would have been The Shit. Instead, we got....well....shit.

I guess it depends on what you value as far as cost. The SS and GTPP are $1000 apart.
What can you buy a V8 Mustang for? What can you buy a V8 Camaro for? The difference is more than $1000, even now that GM is giving incentives.

I do agree Mustang has a cheap base model and Chevy should of done the same for a starter car, but apples to apples there $1000 apart. When the my18GT comes out and it has similar numbers performance wise with the SS and keep the price the same, then I totally agree.
Yea that's probably not happening. But if ford can pull it off. The Camaro will suffer much worse sales next year!!!!!

Bet the dealer experience is better at Chevy. At least has been that way for me... :(

It depends dealer to dealer, as with all things automotive.

My local Chevy dealers are ADM whores who will fight tooth and nail to even give you MSRP on a Camaro.

Meanwhile the Ford dealer happily goes below MSRP, even without Xplan.

Totally depends on dealer. Both sides have been able to get great deals. Others not so great.

I one hundred percent agree. But base V8 vs base V8, isn't really apples to apples.

Sure it is, base to base is base to base. Just because the Camaro has more IN the base, doesn't make it not base.

Will a base 1SS wipe the floor with a base GT? Absolutely! In both the manual and automatic forms. However saying you MUST put the Performance Pack on the GT to "make it more apples to apples" isn't fair.

Well a GTPP vs a base 1SS is closer and more comparable than a GTPP vs SS1LE. I think it's a fair comparison base GTPP vs 1SS since they are close in price.

But I can see how one will look at GTPP vs SS1LE as a more comparable comparison.

No I see what you mean. I'm saying that performance wise, it's not apples to apples. Sorry, I didn't clarify.

The only thing I wish my Mustang had more of is less weight. What GM did with the Camaro is outstanding in terms of weight reduction, I had hoped Ford would have got the lard out of the Mustang with the S550. If they succeed in knocking 250-300 pounds out of it with the next generation I'm a sure upgrader, but if the car is still a fat-ass like it is now I'll be looking elsewhere. And I want a V8, not some turbo'd crap sounding V6!

The camaro started off as an overweight pig and shrunk things down to less than 100lbs under the current mustang. The weight advantage the camaro has is quite a bit exaggerated.

I'm sorry to say, but knocking off 250-300 lbs would come at a serious price ($$$), or would require the mustang to shrink physically in size. I think 100 lbs could be realistic, but it's not happening until a complete re-design.

Why would I spend more when the GT PP doesn't give me anything I need above and beyond the base GT? When I purchased a Mustang GT rather than buying a 1LE a couple years ago that was my decision. I was thinking about the 1LE, but I liked the Mustang better. I didn't want the extra options on the GT. I thought the base GT was perfect for me. That's (partially) why the SS doesn't sell. It's too expensive.

If you were really impartial you wouldn't compare a car with add-ons to a base car.
