Right, lets be clear. I love my PMAS. Its a great bit of kit. The performance is brilliant. I even like the idea of function over form.

However.....

Its not cheap stuff (especially when you are outside of the US and have to pay a lot of shipping and customs charges).

WTF is it with the quality of the replacement airbox? It looks like its been cut by a blind chimpanzee that doesn't know how to use power tools. Just bloody awful.

It wouldn't take much to either take the time to manufacture / cut the airbox in a nicer/smoother/better way - or just ship it with some generic rubber seal over the edges to cover up the hack work.

So, if anyone from PMAS reads this... any clue as to why? The airbox is the first thing you unpack from the shipping box and it actually made me laugh, then I was a little angry, and then I got the product on the car and I forgot all about it :eyebulge:

But still, for not much money, or even no money you could be shipping a much nicer product.

I know of people specifically not buying the PMAS product because of the shitty levels of presentation, if thats any kind of inspiration to sort it out

As much as I like the PMAS, I will go with JLT for this reason.

Nick had posted they are redesigning the heat shield.

Hahaha this is funny! I had the Steeda intake but the cuts were ok, not super clean but acceptable. I can totally understand your frustration though. But you really don't see that stuff after the seal is installed and it sits under the hood.

Have you seen the factory cuts in rear tire area which looks like a black cheese eaten by a mouse or the pieces hiding behind the dash panel? You would laugh pretty hard. If its not visible to naked eye than its normal!

Would be nice if they would send me a replacement one for free.

Its approx. $600 landed here in the EU - :paddle:

On many levels they should be feeling ashamed... especially as the technical functionality of the product is so damned good!

My filter separated from my tube recently on my PMAS intake. The glue just failed and the filter popped off during a pull. Car stalled...scary stuff until I found out it was just the filter that popped off.

They replaced the part and got it to me very quickly at no cost to me. Very awesome.

They seem like a great company but some of the quality going into this intake is weak.

Ive got the GT 350 CAI and PMAS CAI.

GT 350 CAI with MAF: $200
PMAS CAI with MAF: $400

Yes the oem Ford part is vastly superior in quality and also drives better as bigger tube is not always better and the GT 350 seals vastly better against hood, so much lower IATs.

Only downside is GT 350 has paper filter, so I added additional $65 cost by buying GT500 Airaid oiled filter for a few more horses and fits perfect.

PMAS Filter is very nice, but rest of kit quality is well meh, but the PMAS does perform, it makes power and improves terminal times.

Kinda off topic but does the GT350 CAI make any kind of sound? Idle or WOT?

It is quieter than PMAS, but louder than stock air box.

Thanks! I'll be going with the GT350 CAI because of the OEM quality and lower IAT 's but I'll miss the snarl of the bigger intakes.

Mine has been fine quality wise. I have done a couple things to improve it a little though. I had to block my hood vent on that side to stop my filter from getting wet (it rains a lot in Florida) but this will be an issue with any open filter intake on this car (my 13 with airaid was even worse because vents were bigger). I cut my shield bigger on the opening and sanded the edges smooth. I also ported and radiused the inside of the plastic tube ends just to smooth airflow past the MAF and to the throttle body. If you take the filter off and look down the tube you will see how thick the plastic tube end right after the MAF housing is vs the aluminum MAF tube. I just ground and radiused the inlet until it was about the same thickness as the aluminum tube.

Love mine but yes box could have been given more attention. I would hope I get an updated box if they make a new one. Haven't even had it 6months.

For what it's worth: I switched back to my stock airbox for a couple days. Car was noticably less responsive at part throttle and definitely didn't pull as hard at wide open throttle. Also on identical tune except MAF transfer my idle quality and overall fuel trims are better on the Pmas vs the stock box. I also built my GT350 intake manifold and GT350 throttle body tune today. There is a lot that I had to change in the tune and I'm pretty sure it will be surge free from the get go. I just need an extra $1000 to buy the parts now lol.
