I have a Premium 200a with the "Shaker" amp but less the subwoofer in the trunk (part of the 201a or 401a package). I am wondering if the stock subwoofer can be added and if it would work 'plug and play.'

I have already checked that the subwoofer connections are on the body harness in the right rear. All that is left is to see if it will work when plugged in.

So, any of the members that may have changed out the stock subwoofer for an aftermarket unit, would you want to part with the stock unit?

I would be willing to give mine up but the carpeting is different and would need to swap carpet so I don't have gaping holes where mine was.

And if this works, doesn't that mean there is a switched power wire in the harness? I am still trying to convince myself I can install an aftermarket power sub in the trunk and just tap into preexisting power/ground wiring.

The floor carpet is the same, problem is the cubby hole on the side where the brackets come through. Ill take another look and see if theres a clean way to eliminate it since its just sitting there unhooked now.

did anyone figure out if a 200a/400a can install the factory sub woofer?
I was told that the harness is different so there is not a plug for the subwoofer.

More information, please. Where exactly did you find this? A picture would be marvelous.

If the connections are there, it might just be an as-built mod that would enable the output from the amp to that harness. If I could score a sub and harness cheap enough, I'd be willing to give it a go and see if I could figure out which line to modify using Forscan.

So has anyone confirmed whether the factory sub will plug & play with the Premium 9 speaker system?

I have pulled the carpet and do not see the jumper, but looking online I found a diagram that shows there is a P&P jumper that can be connected for the sub to plug in. Unfortunately I did not see a part number for that jumper, nor where it would connect in the trunk, but I can suspect it would connect to the module next to where the sub should be located.

I do believe I know how to turn it on using ForScan, but need to find out if this harness can be obtained, and find a sub. I need to find a local with a 201a/401a car willing to let me pull the sub :)

You'd be able to sell it a lot easier if we could confirm that it's plug & play into the premium cars (and perhaps the base cars as well)!

That's where I'm at right now. I've been considering purchasing a used factory sub but would want to make sure it's plug and play. Otherwise, I would hook up the JL 10" sub and JL Audio amp I have sitting in my garage from my old car!

When you say you have pulled the carpet - are you referring to just the trunk floor carpet OR the entire passenger side carpeted trunk liner where the sub would be mounted?

I would suspect if the sub harness exists, it comes past the back seat into the trunk on passenger side - either following the inner rear wheel well, under the rear deck or somewhere near the taillight area.

I also have a Premium with the 9-speaker "Shaker" system and if adding a factory sub kit (or other) would be rather easy based on the findings in this project thread, I'd be interested as well!

The other question for those WITH the 401a and included sub:
Is there an additional option in the SYNC3 stereo menu to adjust the sub output? I would assume if the answer is "yes", this functionality would also need to be activated in a 201a vehicle within the As Built code.
