Stripe Swirlies

Sad to say, but my brand new 350 has swirlies all over the black stripes, and they are pretty noticeable once you get up close. the swirlies were there under the shipping dirt when it came off the truck (saw them myself), so they happened during the stripe install I'm thinking.

At any rate, is this common? Is it possible to polish the swirls out of the stripes, has anyone tried this?

Very common, and you can't really polish vinyl. A good wax does a reasonable job covering up the swirls.

I'm not really impressed with these stripes. They're just plain vinyl. The GT500 stripes were painted and cleared vinyl, and they did not scratch/swirl like this.

Agreed. If I had to do it over again I'd not order the OEM stripes and just do the Big Worm over PPF.

With my 2012 Boss I could never remove the swirls from the vinyl to my satisfaction. I went with no stripes on my 2017 GT350. I think the stripes are classic Shelby but I'm OCD about detailing.

I have the white stripes over mine and they aren't exactly matt, id say they even have a shine to them. The dealer definitely hadn't marked or swirled mine in anyway. I am almost at the end of my first month and I plan to give the car a good detail so I will report back if I have any problems, from what I can see a good quality wax that states it is also ok on vinyl should be fine as long as you are gentle around the edges.

I think a couple of layers of cquartz and then reload does a good job of keeping them good looking and shinny ... That's what I did.

I had swirls on one of the two stripes down the hood. If I had to do it over again I'd go after market. I have ppf over the top of them so that did help blur the imperfections.

I had the stripes on my '09 GT500 painted on. They had to redo it a 2nd time to get it right. In the end it was very nice, but I don't think it's something I'd do again unless I had a paint shop that was very experienced with that kind of work.

Yep, i'm in the process of removing mine and will be installing Big Worm stripes.

Took me 1 hour to remove TP spoiler and 3 hours to clean up the underside of the sticky double sided tape.

Thanks for the replies and votes everyone.

I just finished the inaugural wash and wax. Got a good coat on the stripes, hopefully it will hide the swirlies to some extent. I'll find out tomorrow when I take it out in the sunlight.

The first car I bought (and returned) had them badly, but I don't know if they came from the factory that way or were dealer installed during PDI.
