So I got hit by a semi from behind. The lane came to an fast stop and the semi behind couldn't brake fast enough. It tried to dodge to the left but the rear trailer tire caught my driver side back.

The car is at a shop being assessed. It looks like my driver side rear wheel took a pretty big hit, so I'm pretty sure the axle must've been damaged. There might be some frame damage but hope not. Question is, even with the best repair job on the suspensions, will there be any complications to the feel or performance of the car?

Total loss should get a nice check especially if your neck hurts...

I wouldn't want that car back..that's assuming they're not going to total it.

If I were you, I'd hope they total it out.

I do hope they total it out... but that means I'll need to drop a couple more Gs to get a new 1.

+2

I do everything in my power to stay clear from trucks, specially
driving behind them since a retread has the impact of a 60 lb
bowling ball, not to mention the stones they kick out.

Glad you are unharmed, could of been much worst

Don't sweat the ride...you get to enjoy another day. That is always a good thing.

Took a hit in a great spot as bad as it sounds. I doubt it will be a total loss though. My guess is maybe $9000 in total repairs costs (parts & labor).

Did his rear end swing out and clip you?

Damn man I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Especially since your car looks like a beauty

On the other hand if I was able to walk away from an accident involving a semi I'd be feeling like a champion haha. Our low cars and their high trailers can make for some bad days.

Glad you're okay

Sucks.

Glad you're ok, coulda been worse considering it was a semi...

In order for the vehicle to be a total loss claim, the damages have to exceed at least 74% of its actual value. I've seen and heard of guys having to get their rides fixed where damages have been up to $14k...

So, I would definitely make sure you find the best shop - the best in repairs, but also the best in being fair with repair estimates and ethics.

Just say you will not accept a repaired car and stick to your guns. Calmly explain that your car was not wrecked before the accident, not your fault and no logical reason for you to accept a repaired vehicle.

Hit by his rear wheel. The wheel got caved in and the tire came off.
