I installed a UPR DVCC over the weekend. Had to take the intake manifold off to do so. I'm sure I reinstalled everything correctly, check valves are in the right position. Yesterday everything was fine and I ran boost up to around 21 psi (cobb stage 1) consistently.

This morning I floored it in 2nd above 3k RPM and heard a bump. Not like an engine knock, more like a thud from something in the engine bay. Also had a clear boost leak. So I pulled over when I could and saw the charge pipe came completely off the throttle body inlet...

I made sure to check that the worm clamp was tightened and it definitely was. I loosened it and put it back on, then tightened it again. I didn't really check if there were any other leaks or if that solved the problem completely, I had to get to work and will check later today. Does this seem more like a coincidence or does anything stick out to you guys? Any suggestions?

This was a VERY common problem on the 15s, not sure about 16s, I thought they would have had that corrected. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you got them tightened down. Trust me, you have to tighten them more than you would think. When I first heard about the problem (my car was very new), I went out and tightened all the clamps. A couple months later on a wide open pull, one blew off. Then I went out and tightened them even more, no problems since at 1.5 years and 24k miles.

I see, perhaps I didn't tighten it enough then. I'll ease it back home and tighten it down. Will update with how it goes.

You have to kind of crank the factory clamps down. I usually go over mine every 10k miles or so (every two oil changes). That's probably a bit of overkill on my part, but I've had turbo cars for a number of years and know the pain of trying to fix them in a parking lot or the side of the road, lol.

Had this problem as well, until I switched over to T-bolt clamps.

It's pretty common on the '16s too. I had a pipe pop off while I was making a pass.
Swapped out the stock pipes and no problems.

Worm gear clamps have no business being on a boosted car....switch to T-bolts and you'll never have this issue again.

In your experience maybe, but I switched from worm gear clamps to t-bolts in my old Evo (which pushed 23 psi btw) and never had another blown-off pipe again.
I think "his experience" is pretty credible since he is the Turbosmart rep...

Oh I'm not...there isn't a damn thing on the internet that can butthurt me. That was sarcasm...easily mistaken for butthurt.

Clean the contacting parts with brake clean, get all the oil off and they'll stay on fine with the stock clamps
