T bolt clamps from an auto storewhat is a good brand of charge pipe unions ? my MAP silicone union / connector at the turbo keeps blowing off ! it is not a tight fight at all
Because I am in the boost business, and have been for a very long time (since 82). Anything you see being used in the aircraft industry is NOT readily available in the automotive aftermarket.why would you think that ? they are in staple in the aviation industry what would use instead ? a typical worm gear clamp that will cut the silicone when overtightened.
So what would you recommendBecause I am in the boost business, and have been for a very long time (since 82). Anything you see being used in the aircraft industry is NOT readily available in the automotive aftermarket.
The main issue with T-Bolt clamps is that most everyone is selling a cheap POS version of them.
They do not properly clamp around the full circumference. They also "pucker the silicone under the bolt area making the sealing even worse. They also cut into silicone nearly as bad as a normal work gear clamp (which is better than a t-bolt).
In addition T-bolt clamps can often distort or crush most piping causing a bad seal. People almost always over tighten them as well trying to make them seal better which actually exacerbates the issue.
Good clamps have liners in them creating even pressure around the full circumference of the silicone. The best clamps also include other features that "grip" the silicone with rolled edges that prevent cutting of the silicone.
These are all very good -So what would you recommend
