I am a couple of weeks away from pulling the trigger on a Beefcake special Procharger package. I am doing OPG and timing chain gears. I am also getting a damper. I am shooting for 600 or so rwhp. Which damper should I get, ATI or MMR?

I got the MMR made by Romac, but wicked for piece of mind that I got the ATI. Not enough information out their on the MMR and lots of info on the ATI, and the biggest plus with the ATI is that is what Ford Picked for use in there Whipple Powerd Cobra jet cars.

I bought the MMR. I know a few local guys with the MMR on their 11-14s and haven't had an issue.

ATI FTW

They have been in the game for years and this is what they do day in and day out.

Whipple chose them for their 10 Rib kit

Ford chose them

Most race teams will pick them

The money difference between the two isn't make or break. Some people will say the MMR is lighter, I say yup it is and the ATI is heavier for a reason.

Good question. I will be going the same route and was looking at the ATI dampers. I know when you buy the procharger you would need to specify if you have the ATI damper as there is a difference over the stock damper. Something to do with the pulley/belt. Saw these 2 on VMP. Lethal has the same ones.

Anyone know, Is the 20% OD required if running a centrifugal SC? Couldn't you use the stock sized ATI balancer instead?

This, its an harmonic balancer, its heavy for good reason.

The MMR will be offering less protection than the ATI.

Buy ATI, Whipple and Ford use it and it cost more than others, that really says it all! :)

The 20% is to run more boost with a smaller pulley. For example using Whipple as an example, 20% OD with 4.0 pulley would be like running 0% OD with a 3.5 pulley.

with a procharger, you'll need the ati, as far as i know the mmr hasn't been confirmed with fitment on the procharger setup

i think they are going to be sending one to procharger, but at this time not confirmed

i have all the balancers and gears and stuff that we can package at the same time if you want

I built/wrote my first FFT/vibrations evaluation system from scratch in college. Landed a job doing vibrations and other NVH work for Tier I suppliers. I am completely baffled by anyone marketing a damper as being 'better' by being lighter weight. This is a red flag. There are no elastomers that can overcome the deficiency of a significantly undersized damper.
Ask the damper mfg what oscilloscope brand and model number they are using or how they set up their test rigs. Ask the name of their lead vibrations engineer and where he/she studied.
Not gonna say anything about anyone else, but, I am running an ATI and am very comfortable with their engineering program. So is Ford.
