So I received my Boomba short shift. Followed the video and installed it yesterday evening. It was like 95 degrees with ridiculous humidity so that was fun even in my garage. So far I really like it but I've only put a few miles on it. More driving to do today!

A couple quick points:

- there was a lot of talk about the zip tie. I previously posted that Boomba should include the zip tie because I was under the impression they were not included. Well, apparently they are included. I received a small little bag containing a zip tie and the 2 little supports you slide into the bushing. That said, they are conventional zip ties, not the low profile type, so I understand now what people were talking about. A low profile would def do a better job here.

- the install video says you will need an 18mm socket. This is for using their rental tool. I was 99% sure I had one and didn't stop to buy one on my way home. Of course...I didn't. Wouldn't you know that my largest one was a 17mm! I did, however, have a 3/4" socket and that worked perfectly. Keep that in mind if you're in the same predicament.

- the install video says you will need silicone lube spray. I had WD40. Not sure if that's silicone or not (I don't think it is) but that's what I used with no problems.

- Lastly, for those of you who have rented the tool, are you returning it in the same box that Boomba sent? Seems like it could fit in a smaller box but I wasn't sure. I did notice the prepaid label so that was nice.
Yep I sent it back in the box it came in they got it within two days I had the deposit refunded by the following weekend Great simple process!:D

Hey a quick shout out and Thanks again to AV80R! He sent me the low profile zip ties and it came out great If it wasn't so hot here in the NorthEast this swap would have been a breeze I would definitely recommend the Short throw shifter and the Boobmba shifter knob.
You're quite welcome! Glad I could be of assistance. I absolutely love that little shifter. Blazin' hot down here in the southeast as well!

I think it's great that we can have some sense of community through our shared interests over the internet. In a sea of arguments and bad behavior behind the keyboard, there are truly generous, classy people out there willing to help each other. Great stuff!

Yeh AV80R, thanks again! I also received your zip ties...although they came the day after I installed the short shift! haha. No worries though. Once it cools down for a minute, I'll pop off the trim ring and switch it over to your low profile ones. The one Boomba sends isn't terrible but I definitely see where people are coming from now that I've installed the shifter myself. You can definitely feel that "buckle" protruding through the shift boot.

Anyway, thanks again man! That was really cool of you to ship those out to us.

No problem! Sorry they came later than expected! :D I enjoyed helping you guys out...hope everyone loves their Boomba shifter as much as I do mine. One of the best bang-for-the-buck mods out there for the S550.

The free zip tie offer is still open if anyone else is in need...

Is anyone else using a knob from Anarchy Motive? What sized jam just are you using? I need a thinner one...

The S550 doesn't use a jam nut, no way to get at it with the reverse lock out collar fitting up into a counter bore in the bottom of the knob. You use lock tight to keep it in place.

Anarchy ships their knobs with a jam nut though -- with the Boomba shifter, it's too high (sits above the collar), and without, the reverse lockout doesn't quite work.

Yes -- that's what I intend to do -- just wanted the nut spec -- tried to match it up with the fitment test display at home depot on an errand for something else over the weekend to no avail -- nothing there fits. Anarchy said they were shipping a thinner nut out -- no info yet on that, so seeing as how this sort of thing is really inexpensive, I figured I would try to find something locally.
