I have base GT manual and it looks like I can only adjust the steering modes (normal, sport, comfort). We don't have the 4th toggle "mode" that adjusts throttle response (sport+, track, snow/ice, normal), so I'm assuming our throttle response is set as is. Can anyone confirm this?

I noticed if I press the traction control button twice fast, I can select sportac+ and sportrac, what exactly does this do??

Allow me to stick my head in the guillotine for the experts to correct :)
I believe pressing the traction control button once disables Traction Control in the rear differential. I "believe" pressing it twice quickly also disables the engine/transmission? power limit that works in sync with the rear traction control. This advancetrac/sporttrac setting removes some granny gear limits of the engine but I hear it returns in second gear or something like that.
Many people here know this one much better than I do, I've heard that the only way to fully remove the "granny mode" is by pulling a fuse for the whole traction system (track only, experience controlling an unrestricted RWD highly recommended)

I think the true sport, etc. driving mode selections are designed for automatics because they manipulate shift points.

The base GT does not have the drive modes. What you can manipulate is the traction control and "advancetrac".

push once: traction control OFF
push twice: AdvanceTrac SportMode
Push and hold with foot on brake ~8Seconds: AdvanTrac OFF

Base S550 GT:

Default at every start-up:
- Traction Control On
- Stability Control On

Single tap: "Traction Control Off"
- Traction Control Off
- Stability Control On

Double Tap: "AdvancTrac Sport Mode"
- Traction Control Reduced
- Stability Control Reduced

Press & Hold: "AdvancTrac Off" (e.g. Track Mode)
- Traction Control Off
- Stability Control Off

AdvancTrac helps to maintain control of your vehicle on slippery surfaces using Traction Control and Stability Control by applying brakes to individual wheels and reducing engine power.

Traction control helps to avoid drive wheel spin and loss of traction.

Stability control helps avoid skids and lateral slides.

On the Base Mustang, this is all completely independent of the steering setting.

None of this has anything to do with the differential (which is a Torsen, if you have a PP). I find that the Torsen nicely kicks in and allows natural, easy correction of rear wheel drift in normal driving.

Which is pretty much what the drive modes do, just faster and easier.

The base does have steering modes which is normal, sport and comfort. it's helps change the resistance in the steering wheel, electric assisted steering. Where as, comfort being the lightest and sport being the heaviest. Aside from that you just have the different traction modes using the TC button. I believe the premium modes are just quick toggles to change the things all at once as opposed to having to do it in a series. I'm not sure if they actually control the throttle responses for the snow/wet but I'd assume they would so you wouldn't have that feature and it's all dependent on your foot.

The modes affect throttle response as well as the transmission in auto's.

Unless it's placebo effect, I believe that driving modes alter throttle response for manual as well. Definitely seems more aggressive in sport than normal to me.

Ive never noticed anything different in "advanceTrac Sport Mode" than it's easier to slide it around a corner when I want to. No throttle response, nothing is different that I can tell.

This is really good info, thank you.

About 2 months ago I was attending a HPDE at T-Hill and while on the skidpad I just pressed the TC button once. I did not know it "reduced" traction and stability control.
I thought it would totally disable that function. Either way I don't think my car even cared as I transformed a couple hundred miles worth of rubber into a cloud of smoke.

The instructors thoroughly enjoyed it too...

Then again I do have a PP which can drift really nicely if you have technique.
