Hey everybody,

I picked up my EcoBoost just over a week ago and love it. I'm starting to play around with it a little more and was wondering if someone could explain the "Selectable Driving Modes" to me. What changes when I flip from one to another? How is steering/throttle response/mpg (I have to ask... doesn't really matter to me :D) affected?

Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Steering effort, the point at which traction and stability control will kick in, and (if you have an automatic transmission) shift points and speed. I don't believe throttle response is affected at all, although I could be wrong.

Not 100%, but on mine when I go from normal to sport+ you can feel more throttle. Kinda hard to explain, but without moving the gas pedal and just flipping the switch, you can feel the car pick up speed. So I think throttle response is also affected.

Thanks for the info. And congrats on recently getting your car!

I know exactly what you mean. Changing nothing but the mode, you can feel the car pull forward and speed up.

If you have an Auto, in sport and track mode, you will hold higher Rev's for longer, before the car will upshift. Steering will also tighten up. In wet/snow your throttle response will not be as "snappy". Also your steering will loosen up a bit. Also your revs will downshift much faster, as to keep you from putting too much power to the ground all at once.

Track mode should disable most / (all?) driver aids, such as traction control, (ESP).

I'm sure there is more too it, but from my test drives, that is what I saw as I was testing out each mode.

FWIW, my butt dyno seems to detect a difference between Normal and Sport+ on my GT. I'd need to play with it some more before calling that conclusive.

Same here. It just seems to rev quicker to the car's ~3,000 rpm happy zone. And like others, I find S+ shifts smoother.

On the other hand, the rain/snow mode is pretty cool. Heavy rain this morning, so I used it on the way to work. Seems like half the torque is gone, but it still moves along just fine.

Its listed what it does in the owners manual (what system is off or on when you select the different modes) that being said it does feel different. car feels like ti has less resistance on it in spot and track mode, and like the breaks are on in snow/wet haha
