I just ordered the magnaflow competition catbacks online today. I was just wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for me before I install it myself. I never have worked on an exhaust system before, any help will be much appreciated.

Tip: have a helper for dropping the stock system. Just like mbrp, the new system install should be easy. Hardest part will be perfect tip alignment. YouTube has good install videos that show the removal of the stock stuff.

yeah deff get a helper its fairly easy , hardest part i had was separating the the front clamps.took some persuading but they came off well .

and line everything up before you you tighten everything down. i just barely snugged everything then went back after i aligned it and tightened everything

I'm installing this system as well and I'm a little concerned because I saw a couple of different pictures of the system on-line that had poor alignment of the tips. What is the trick to getting them aligned perfectly? Nothing worse than a loud, expensive exhaust system with poorly aligned tips...

I agree JGT, you spend all that money on an exhaust system and the tips are uneven, that makes it look like crap.

i didnt torque the bolts with a torque wrench .. i just tightened them down with a 1/2 ratchet. just enough so the clamp didnt oval the pipe..

i drove it for a few days . then went back under and rechecked everything .

i also used muffler and joint sealer on ever pipe..as i installed .. no leaks what so ever after

I think the best way to get the tips straight is to start at the tips and adjust back towards the X pipe. So put everything on and loosely tighten it. Then start at the tips. Put them where you want it and tighten. The go the next set and last tighten the X pipe.

Make sure the midpipe is nice and level to the car, if it's canted or tilted L or R, your tips will be jacked.

If the midpipes aren't level, how do I level them?
