So my last mustang was an Auto towards the end of its life and I guess I have some muscle memory left over after 20 years. My new GT is a manual and sometimes I just flat out forget to shift when launching from a stop. Probably cause this car is twice as fast as that last one and I get such a kick out of the pull it has. So I know I need to shift nearly every time, but still get caught off guard when I hit the limiter at the end of first gear. Is this going to be bad for the engine or transmission if I can't make myself stop doing this.

How is this possible? You take your foot off the clutch, then what do you do with your foot, leave it hanging in the air? Muscle memory should have you slam it back down on the clutch when you need to shift

Or immediately put your foot down? Man this is messing with my head, it's all second nature

Bouncing off the rev limiter is bad for the motor, yes.

I too haven't driven such a fast revving motor in many years. It's at the red line so fast. I have to get used to it. I watch the tach very closely now when I go WOT in first and second gear. Also, at age 64 I'M not as quick. Learned to power shift in a '67 Beetle and trnaferred those skills to a 427 Chevelle and numerous motorcycles. Didn't have rev limiters back then. Bent a valve in my 750 Honda. Enjoy your pony car Bartly. It's a great machine.

Wish our base pp models came with the integrated shift light that the premiums have. Luckily I found out the nguage I ordered comes with built in shift light aswell:)

I feel you on red line. Yes it's bad but also shouldn't be to bad if only happen a few times since the car has a rev limiter and cuts fuel. The Lund tune raises the red line so I can't imagine hitting stock redline being so bad. I could be wrong? I don't redline anymore but I did have it happen a couple times when I was getting used to being back in a stick car.

With my new ff tune and gt350 manny I keep hitting rev limiter at 7500rom. Fucker revs so fast and so loud that every time I go wot is very hard not to hit the rev limiter. Maybe is my first time with the ff tune. I have to tell Lund to rais my limiter to 8100 like he told me.

Can the motor take these higher shift points and still have the motor last a long life? 8100 seems steep
