Ok guys...I'm feeling generous. So, here ya go. If you currently have a Boomba shifter, or do the smart thing and get one on order ASAP, I'll send you a couple handy, dandy, low profile ties on my dime. Just PM me with your name and address, and put 'zip tie' or whatever in the subject, and I'll drop 'em in the mail. Once my bag is empty, we'll call it quits.

You're welcome. AV80R

Yeah -- I need to get some and redo mine as well. And ship the puller back too. I've been too busy though.
I see that you also have the Blowfish bracket. How does the Boomba short shifter feel with the BF bracket? I read through a lot of this thread and people had mentioned running the combo but I didn't see anyone clearly reviewing it. I can only imagine it feels great since everyone seems to be raving about the Boomba short shifter and the BF bracket is great on its own.

So far, I think the Blowfish bracket is the single best, most positively impactful modification I've made. Knowing what I know now, I don't think you'd go wrong with the MGW either, but initially I wasn't sure if I wanted a shorter throw -- I just wanted a positive shift. I need to check in with Anarchy Motive this week -- that's the last piece of the puzzle, and then I may change fluids as wall -- most likely to BG.

I'm pleased with the route I've taken -- not disappointed at all.

I actually just did that last week when I had my oil changed at 25,000 miles. I got the transmission fluid and diff fluid swapped out as well, using BG. Got the Blowfish bracket installed at the same time.

I def like the Blowfish bracket and can feel how well it "fixed" things. However, I think adding a shorter shift would really make it an awesome combo. At this point, going to a full assembly is out for me. I considered it but between the initial cost and labor cost to install, I just figured it was more than I needed for a DD car. Now that the BF bracket is on, that's definitely out. I think I'm going to give Boomba a shot with this short shifter and hopefully I'll be good to go!

I think AV80R was the deciding factor for me thanks to the zipties! Take note Boomba!

When you get right down to it the aftermarket shifters give you a stiffer mounting to control the relative motion between the tranny & shifter and a shorter throw. The Blowfish bracket and the others like it and the Boomba short shifter handle do the same thing for $100s less. The flashy anodized parts do not contribute to better shifting.

We also sell a shifter support bracket which does wonders for improving shifter feel, as well!

I know. I had considered it but being all metal I was concerned that it would transmit to much noise and vibration into the interior.

I wound up going with the Energy Suspension urethane bushing that replaces stock bushing. It makes an amazing improvement considering the sub $15 price.

I have just about convinced myself to get the Boomba short shifter to keep my arm and wrist at a more comfortable angle.

Do it! It's fantastic - and my Anarchy Motive knob is on the way - it's going to come together so well...

I can see how you would be concerned with the slight increase in NVH, but I honestly feel like that just adds to the character of a nice V8. My GT is not my daily and she spends more time on the track than the streets, but when I do take her out for a cruise, I enjoy the rumbling and shaking as I power through the gears. :ford:

I might just be more tolerant to NVH..

Mine is a daily driver and I didn't want to risk the increase in NVH.

I have the BMR front K member brace, it stiffened up the front end but it creaks at low speeds. I will likely be removing it soon. I really like how quiet and smooth the S550 is and don't want to spoil that.

So I received my Boomba short shift. Followed the video and installed it yesterday evening. It was like 95 degrees with ridiculous humidity so that was fun even in my garage. So far I really like it but I've only put a few miles on it. More driving to do today!

A couple quick points:

- there was a lot of talk about the zip tie. I previously posted that Boomba should include the zip tie because I was under the impression they were not included. Well, apparently they are included. I received a small little bag containing a zip tie and the 2 little supports you slide into the bushing. That said, they are conventional zip ties, not the low profile type, so I understand now what people were talking about. A low profile would def do a better job here.

- the install video says you will need an 18mm socket. This is for using their rental tool. I was 99% sure I had one and didn't stop to buy one on my way home. Of course...I didn't. Wouldn't you know that my largest one was a 17mm! I did, however, have a 3/4" socket and that worked perfectly. Keep that in mind if you're in the same predicament.

- the install video says you will need silicone lube spray. I had WD40. Not sure if that's silicone or not (I don't think it is) but that's what I used with no problems.

- Lastly, for those of you who have rented the tool, are you returning it in the same box that Boomba sent? Seems like it could fit in a smaller box but I wasn't sure. I did notice the prepaid label so that was nice.

Hey a quick shout out and Thanks again to AV80R! He sent me the low profile zip ties and it came out great If it wasn't so hot here in the NorthEast this swap would have been a breeze I would definitely recommend the Short throw shifter and the Boobmba shifter knob.
