It makes it hard for an R owner to buy replacement parts at that price...but at the same time it does preserve some of the exclusivity of the R.

I wish Ford would simply restrict the sale of R exclusive parts to verified R owners. That way R owners could get replacement parts at a fair price, exclusivity is preserved, Rs are driven as intended which creates a halo effect for the brand, and the aftermarket thrives.

It's annoying to scrape the underside everytime in/out of my driveway. Bought an 1/8th in. thick rubber floor mat thru Amazon and at least there's less friction on contact. Still a hassle, though.

It may be a small chore to throw a key code in the glove box that is linked in ford performances database... extremely simple to do and relatively cost free.
It's almost sad why things like this, tow hooks etc...were forgotten about by ford.
A downer for sure...
Maybe its a little of both... preserving exclusivity and thinking that the R owner who spends gobs over for the R can easily afford 4k splitters.

Well I'm not proud. I cant afford $4k splitters. It's a dream car for me and I didn't buy it without making compromises in other areas. One of the attractive things about the car is what you can get for the money - the cars it competes with....while still being a Mustang, the thinking is that it doesn't cost what an exotic costs to maintain.

Ford did a good job of luring in European car lovers...if they keep charging European replacement part prices, those people are going to go right back to Porsche, BMW and such.

Pretty certain it will be. From my conversations with various for performance personnel, the GT350 will be a limited two year production.

We might see a GT500 coming out sometimes in '17 as a '18 MY hopefully to
battle the ZL1 Camaro GM just released.

But that is pure speculation on my part.

I got a quote from Carbon 2 Carbon for a Carbon Fiber R splitter: $1200. It seem positively ludicrous to buy one of these as a sacrificial splitter, but when the molded ones are $4K I'm probably gonna do it.

Maybe I'll talk to them about a group buy. I bet a lot of non-R owners would go in as well.

Limiting the number sold only serves to drive the price up. If economies of scale are allowed to work you'd see better pricing with greater volume.

Forget about the "exclusivity" argument. Ford last did this with KR parts. The hoods were a huge debacle. After four years, Ford service dumped most of what they had via an auction with Ford Racing distributors. Wheels and suspension parts hit the market at barrel bottom prices and some KR owners cried and cried.

Im gonna install the 350 splitter for my R. Ill preserve the original.
No carbon fiber for me. Plastic has more give and the thing is gonna hit, so id rather have flexability under the car rather than the whole bumber set lifting up causing even more gaps. Otherwise id do the CF.

Background: Followed into a Lowe's parking lot this past Sunday by a guy with his wife and kids in tow...started with a "how do you like it?" when I got out of my car and turned into a nice 20 min convo on all things GT350. He had just gotten his VIN and was super excited as he's hoping to get his 2017 GT350 in a few weeks.

Anywhoo...his dealer told him this is the last year and the 2018 GT??0 will be a Coyote based Twin Turbo.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. If they are going to make it exclusive, then do it and stick to it. Don't drop the prices later anyway.
