Not sure if MPG would be their goal for the next GT500.
Also the 3.5 EB V6 in the Ford GT is going to be pushing over 600hp. Not sure why the GT500 would need a bigger motor to push a v8 to get 700hp.

Typical boosted 5.0s are putting over 700rwhp @ 11psi.

I agree. With the 2.3 making 345 HP, a 4.6 should be able to hit 700 HP.

Probably 5.2 is just about the optimum size to show a significant numerical advantage over the competition.

If you use the 3.5 V6 and over 600 HP as your measure, you could achieve 800 with a 5.2 liter V8. I would love to see the new GT500 rated at 808.

My guess is it will be a bored and stroked coyote (or start w; the 5.2, but CPC)

And add Turbos.

If I'm buying a GT500, I don't give a rat's ass about gas mileage. I hope Ford doesn't base it on MPG's.

It's not really fair to compare tuner outputs with a factory car. Tuners don't have to worry about 5 year/60K powertrain warranties. Tuner cars don't have to meet emissions regs and they don't have to worry about CAFE. Tuners can have NVH levels that would be completely unacceptable for a factory car.

I'm not saying it's impossible Ford could get 700HP out of 5 liters but if they do it's not going to be done the way tuners would do it.

I agree it's more likely to be larger displacement. I would say 5.2 with CPC would be about the minimum displacement I would expect. No reason it couldn't be a 5.4 or 5.8 though. It would be nice for the drag guys if there was more head room in the design so that the HP output could easily be upped without changing the long block internals. At a theoretical 5.2 liters and 800+ HP there might not be as much room for HP increases as some would like.

The 2018 GT500 will be a TT 5.0, with the possibility of a CF DS, Ford Racing half shafts, and of course different front and rear fascia. It won't be AWD, and MSRP is going to land around $60K. Personally, I believe it to be pretty true.

Don't believe that it will come in around $60K...virtually overlapping the 350R. I'm thinking it'll be starting between $70000-75000

Smaller engine in the 500? That would be just...wrong.

They have a stroker kit already that goes to 5.6 or 5.8..

Perhaps "kit" was the wrong word choice.

I know they have been poked out to near 5.8. JPC has a 344 in kit.

So I'm guessing that there's some room in there for Ford to bump it up a bit.
