Before I try to sort myself, has anyone had any luck with claiming on the warranty for the really thin paint, especially on the base colours like my own Comp Orange?

3 months and 3500 miles in I have a few tiny stone chips, not on the front but on top of the bonnet/hood and high on the driver's door.

Already the paint around these 2mm across chips is flaking off.

My e36 BMW is 17 years old with 105,000 miles and despite battle scars and dents caused by years of London parking and commuting, there is still not one stone chip.

Even the major dents show no paint damage.

If anyone has had any luck claiming, do let me know.

Cheers.

The e36 had the best paint ever. The newer eco friendly paints on current cars are very thin and chip easily.

My CO is awful as well. I've got chips everywhere and I do everything in my power to avoid being behind trucks, driving down roads with debris, etc

I have Shadow black and at 300 miles I had my first chip on the hood. Now at 900 miles I have three extremely noticeable chips. Worst paint on any car since my wife's '98 Cavalier! I'm now going to get them fixed and spend several thousand to wrap the entire front end. Total BS.

I had a chip from the first ride home (it was 400 miles) but still this is for sure an area that they don't compete with the German's on! but then again, they don't price like the German's either.

Also I had 2 spots when I picked up from the dealer (in my eye line) where something flew into wet paint, I guess a big partial of dust.

I think this is the same for paint on all new cars - my 1 yr old Acura has a ton of chips. Another issue I noticed for the Mustang, and likely most new cars, very thin sheetmetal/aluminum - very easy to ding with a door - had one just taken out by a PDR guy, looks like it never happened.

I'll join the club! I don't have too many noticeable on the hood after 6300 miles but I don't do a lot of highway driving. I do have some around the flare on the rear fenders, I think. However, this morning I opened my door and it came to rest on my wife's van next to my car, after I stopped opening a very dainty touch on her door. I didnt think much of it and then I looked over at her car after closing my door and saw a mark. Rubbed it off and noticed black paint on her car, I'll clay bar it out later. The little pointy edge appears to not hold paint very well, down to the metal after barely touching her door. I'll attribute it to being that very pointy surface, but seems to just be the paint.

The paint on my Mustang is kinda on the soft and thin side. I have done 2000 miles and already got two small chips. I am gonna probably clear film the bumper.
My FJ Cruiser has pretty tough paint, 35000 miles only 3 small chips.

I suspect running wheel spacers is killing my paint. I have collections of chips on both sides low on the fenders and quarter panels

Just received my first chip (about 3mm) on the rear bumper sometime last week. First one always hurts the most! My '13 was relatively chip free, just a door ding from parking in a public parking garage.
