Despite the HP advantage of the new ZL1, I still think the GT350R would still be within a second of it on certain tracks. I Know the ZL1 gets special goodyear Eagle tires, but i'd take the GT350R's wheel/tire setup over it. Plus I think it'll still hold the advantage RPM range wise.

I think we'll end up with a 5th Gen ZL1/GT500 kind of thing. Longer tracks will favor the ZL1 due to its hp advantage. Shorter ones will keep the G350R in the game.

I just love how American car companies are pushing their performance divisions through the roof.

any time you need a reminder that things in life dont come discounted because you feel they should be so its easier to get. You must pay to play

How much easier do you need it to be? Its a limited production car. You both want to complain about it how much it costs at mrsp or below pricing. You can either afford it or not. Do you think my 14 gt500 that sold near the end of last year only 5 grand below new pricing to be too much too? The car is worth what its worth. The zl1 isnt going to make a car cheaper. The only thing its going to do is give us better cars which is good for everyone. But what you both did was complain about price. For those that paid the asking price not the adm , its a slap in the face to people that paid fords price, its a lot of car for the price. Why are you so much more deserving of a cheaper car thats already bargin? Happy studying? Im almost 50. Try again.
1) You made the assumption that my beef was with MSRP. Had you bothered to ask (rather than go off the handle) you would have found out different.
2) You made private negotiations out to be the same as expecting a government handout. So, yes, my comment about you needing to study was appropriate.

Have a nice day.

Seriously..? I'm pretty sure the ZL1 a GT500 competitor which will come supercharged. But I'm sure there's a reason you conveniently left that out... :frusty:
English, please? I do NOT think the next GT500 will have a supercharger. Turbos, most likely.

The GT350R is just not anywhere near the ZL1's level, I doubt it's any faster on a track than a 1LE.
:lol: GM said the ZL1's benchmark was the 2014/2015 z/28 and implied it reached or exceeded that target. So did the GT350R. At no point did GM ever say the 1LE-equipped SS ever benchmarked the z/28.

I think there will be some butt hurt SS/1LE owners in the future when real-world results are available.

GT350R to me is still the preference over the new ZL1... IMO the R also looks better.
Looks are subjective, but... I agree.

Also, that Voodoo V8.

Bossing, I'm curious if you or any of your Z06 compatriots will be paying close attention to how the ZL1 performs track wise, especially with the different auto trannies (translation: limp mode). Any thoughts on that front? I seem to recall you stating that your particular car wasn't plagued much by this.

If the ZL1 can't put at least one lap on a GT350, I'll double over with laughter.

I bet this zl1 only sells 1/2 of what the old one did.

I think you're right. Just like this site and the GT350, there are people hailing the 1LE as something it is not. "The end all be all". Will it be the fastest car in its price point, YES. Will it be the fastest car in its class, NO.

You think it needs to be easier to get a hold of one. Illl state it again for you, this zl1 coming to market isnt going to increase the amount of gt350s made. Everyones complaint has been pricing with the adm mark up. What else would you possibly complain about? Doesnt take rocket science deductions here. This zl1 isnt going to make price come down on the gt350. I didnt go off the handle, go back and reread. I made an statement based off observations and if you added tone to text thats on you.

Expecting things to be cheaper/free, more fair or easier is similar to what bernie thinks. I need to do no studying. Just because this isnt politics doesnt mean what you both expect isnt similar.

I do hope to have a nice day. You as well.

I have not seen a single 350 TRACK PACK or R overheat. Just a bunch of base/tech owners that didn't pay attention to the obvious fact that a "track" package is offered or the press stating if you're tracking the car, buy a track or R.

RPMs make heat. Shift at 7K like a base GT and you may not have as many issues. As others have stated, the GT does not have a trans temp failsafe and is likely cooking the trans on track. There could be issues later down the road to those tracked GTs... Time will tell.

If the Getrag and TR3165 only have a 6 quart capacity, both will need an auxiliary cooler for the transmission. The Boss 302 needed one and, just as the GT350, the transmission gets hot.

I see all normal temperatures. The oil temps remain low in the GT350 as well. 225-250 while the z28 pegged the oil out at 280-300.

I agree, and I would expect whatever gaps there might be, the margin would close every lap that the race went on. I don't care if you have 11ty-million coolers, a supercharged car is going to heat soak and, as a result, performance will decrease. Also, while there is a definite power gap between the cars, the GT350R still looks to be 150-200lbs lighter than the ZL1 and of that difference, a lot of that is going to be unsprung weight. I'm not sure the ZL1, despite all its power puts down a better lap time and, if it does, it would very likely be only that one, initial lap.

Yup. Imagine if they carry the GT350R Weight/Tire setup plus a few of its methods for weight loss(minus the rear seat delete) and throw in 700ish hp for the potential upcoming GT500.... that car could be a beast.

Supposedly at the media preview they ran HARD for 2 hours without stopping and never had a problem.

I think GM took a page out of the Mopar book and built the ZL1 to the neck with coolers so it can run hard without stopping for long periods of time.
