No one has confirmed if the TP that went into limp mode was due to the tranny temps.

On my car, the tranny temp runs the coolest compared to the engine oil and diff, so it could something else on that car (or completely unrelated to any of the above)
Granted. But IF part of the problem is airflow and exhaust convection, even with coolers, deflecting that heat would be beneficial, no?

I hear 'ya but the fact of the matter is Ford won't cover the price of retrofitting our base/tech cars with all the track/R cars cooling hardware for free.

But i could be wrong. Let's wait and see.
I agree with you there. But a $60k+ sports car centered on performance (track rather than drag) should be able to hold up to a little more spirited driving. No GT350 should be outpaced by a standard GT. That's exactly what we saw last night

3 GT350s limping off track after 10 minutes while all the normal GTs marched on the full session. (Perf pack and base).

Just being the devil's advocate but they also don't have the sensors to limit fluid breakdown and very well could be limiting trans life unless they change fluids after every HDPE. That said I do think techs and bases should be able to handle 20 min with no issues.

I completely understand where you're coming from, hell i paid $63K cdn for the most track capable Mustang ever. So i'm expecting it to survive a minimum of 20 minutes on the track.

The way i see it now is my GT PP is a more track capable car than my soon to come GT350

I hope they can resolve it quickly. Ford lets their dealers do HUGE markups. Porsche and BMW don't allow this from dealers.
So I'm just imagining all those GT4s I've seen marked up $30k?

Just did a track day at Laguna Seca which I will add to my "Trackaholic's GT350 Experience" thread.

Somewhat pertinent to this conversation are two points. First, there was a second GT350 at the event (a tech pack car), and the driver went into limp mode on his first session. I don't know how hard he was driving, but he implied that he wasn't pushing very hard.

I have a track pack car, and the temps were fine. However, I was way over the sound limit and was keeping off the throttle (I was the first GT350 to go out, and asked for a sound check, and failed spectacularly, so I had to be very careful from that point on, which meant I wasn't on the gas hard at all for the rest of the day).

Also, it was relatively cool @ 64 degrees.

Anyhow, attached is a picture of my temps after a half a lap of cooldown.

I can only speak to my experience. Is it possible that those with markups are used? I know a guy who bought a GT3 new at list price. With in a year he sold it back to the dealer for $15,000 over list. The dealer was able to sell the used car for a higher amount. Again, I can only speak to my experience.

I digress. Anxiously waiting for a fix from Ford. In the mean time I look forward to my next track day, where I will run 10 minute sessions.

Thanks for that pic. It's starting to look like "the most track worthy Mustang ever built" is going to be a failure no matter what package you have. The tech pack cars go into limp mode after 10 min. and the track pack cars can't be pushed because they are to loud.

Unfortunately this isn't true Porsche and BMW dealerships are allowed to charge ADMs take it from somebody who has paid over MSRP on an e46 m3 when they first came out not to mention the people who buy gt3s and see the ADMs on those cars as well as the m4 GTS. I have a friend who was offered a GTS for $50k over MSRP...he passed.
What? I special ordered my e46 m3 and paid under sticker. I spent a lot of time on the e46, bimmerworld and other bmw forums and don't recall people paying markups.

So here's a question - as someone pointed out, Ford surely flogged these cars (all configurations) heavily during production. It's extremely surprising that Ford would put in all this testing, market the car so heavily as "the most track ready Mustang ever" and then have so many heat issues.

Is it possible that this is a production problem instead of a design problem? I saw this article this morning and the idea popped in my head.

Track packs/R!s can surely be pushed. On straights at Homestead, Sebring and PBIR I floor mine like Fred Flintstone. I shift at 8000-8100 rpm (I have my shift lights set at Track and rpm points set at 8k). You can see in my vids I wind it up... no issues. Highest trans temp I have seen is 168*... heck my Z06 hits 210+ trans temp and that doesn't go into limp mode at those digits. I WOT that up too! :D

Ask the OP.... when I took him for like 4 laps at PBiR, I was moving pretty quick and revving high. With this car the monicker- "don't lift, don't shift" is bang on!

Sebring is 65 and I would assume you can run hard @ those temps.
