Just sold my beloved 2015 M3 because I had a great investment opportunity. I've owned 3 BMW's 2008 328i, 2011 335i - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=844851&highlight=theriz Link if anyone wants to check it out.. highly modded ,2015 M3. Looking to switch over to automatic 5.0 in 4 months. Is the AT the mustang THAT bad? I know its not going to be a DCT... but even compared to the ZF tranny the 335i?
looking to do a ton of suspension mods, headers, cai, tune, roush active exhaust.

no where near DCT. shifts better/faster than my non-dct 335i did, especially that 1-2 shift. I don't know why but my 335i shifted like my grandma from 1-2, probably could've benefitted from the alpina trans tune

Thanks for the info, over all how are you liking the GT?

I know the BMW's can be had with Manuals but I was just pointing out what my dealership is selling, which I assume is fairly close to what people want, at least around here.

To be fair, it's likely the Mustang's awesome V8 engine is riding the coattails of the F150, which is #1 selling vehicle, which really helps to drop costs.

And Europe really squeezes its car manufacturers on engine displacement and fuel economy, as well as $/Liter. So BMW and Benz are much more interested in 4 & 6 cylinders.
Bimmers are impossible to get with manuals unless you special order and wait. I went to dealers in Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando and everywhere in between trying to find a manual 335i and they told me to just give up there isn't a chance.

absolutely love it. My 335i was my baby, it was full bolt on and meth, but this car right off the lot is more fun to drive. Granted, my 335i was AWD which I hated (other than boosted launches which were ridiculous). You will not regret getting a 5.0 at all, once you get over the fact that you WILL see tons of mustangs on the road, and people don't look at it with dollar signs in their eyes like the bimmer. That doesn't bother me at all and some tasteful modding carried over from e90post can make it really stand out.

Doubtful the auto in the stang even compares to the sport ZF8 transmission let alone BMW's DCT.

Get manual.
The auto in the stang, like i said, is much better to drive than my 335i was. That thing was sloppy. DCT, also like I said, is in another class entirely, not worth comparing.

edit: I agree with getting a manual though. If I didn't drive daily in orlando work traffic on construction roads, I would 100% have a manual.

Do you track? focused on a balance of performance/comfort or all out performance? I see most guys do something along the lines of steedas stop the hop package (http://www.steeda.com/steeda-mustang-ultimate-irs-stop-the-hop-package-2015-all-555-2129/) and springs. e90post was all about coil overs but I rarely see it on here. IMO put some time in with the car and see what you feel you could benefit most from. I don't think I need coils on this car I'm going to go with BMR performance springs, but I rarely track

I personally felt like the performance package was essential to complete this car. Others disagree. Also, if you're wanting more refinement, get the 2016 GT Premium. The Sync 3 system is REALLY good.

Are you talking about the F30 generation ZF-8 speed transmission (sport auto specifically*)? If you are, the ZF-8 speed transmission (sport auto specifically) shifts WAY faster than the S550 Mustang AT. There's absolutely no comparison. The ZF-8 is one of the best auto transmissions around, especially for not being a DCT. Many companies use them in sporty cars. The Mustang AT has the laziest shifting transmission - it's super slow (compared to modern standards).

Here's a [ame=""]video[/ame] of a 335i going all out - see how quickly it shifts for an auto.

*Keep in mind the F30, came with the sport auto and the "regular" auto.

Switching from a 335i 6MT w/ M-Sport & Full M-performance and I'm excited to switch go the GT.

I will definitely miss the interior of the BMW, folding mirrors, moonroof but I honestly didn't find the F30 all that fun, even with the mods I had. Just didn't feel sporty enough. The biggest thing I will miss is the MPG. With Eco Pro, I get 400+ miles to my full fill up.

I did a long test drive w/ the GT and I find the GT to handle and brake better than the F30.
Forgot about Eco Mode, will miss that too. I coul easily get 33-35 mpg on long, cruising freeway rides. Nobody is switching from the F30 to the GT for the gas mileage though :)

I do not track however i do canyon runs in Malibu once every 2-3 weeks, but mainly looking for performance and comfort. I had springs on my 335i and it had a horrible ride, then switched over to KWV2's and it was a night and day difference. Wondering how the BC racing coils are on the mustang? or if i should just opt for the KW's again. Thanks for the link i will def. be installing that package. I think one of the small things i will be missing is the carbon fiber options on the mustang:(. They're a ton for BMW's...

edit: does anyone know if Ford will do "individual" paint like BMW? I'm really liking the new grey on the GT350........
