If they offered Guard, it might have been enough for me to cancel my 2016 order. I love that color so much.

Anyone consider maybe there is a performance upgrade not yet revealed? Something that would warrant the track pack options becoming standard now?

Whipple sells a performance upgrade. As does Kooks, Magnaflow, JLT, etc :D

Does anyone know how many 2016 base GT350s were made so far? Is it around 400?

And only 15 in Canada. If i keep my '16 order and get the car, there will only be a couple like mine with same color combo and black roof.

My thoughts are that, given the info we now have it would have been best if I had waited. However I waited for a very long time to get my car. I would have ordered a '17 in Lightning Blue (as it's closer in hue to Liquid Blue) and get the Nav. But truth be told I don't use the shitty Nav system in my '12 Ram, I use Waze on my phone. So it is what it is and I'm still very pleased with my car:

What you now have is a great car, (love the color combo) and the rest of us will have to wait for a 2017 and most likely miss the summer months to enjoy it. While you're having fun in yours. That is priceless

Wonder if my dealer will ask for 5K again to get on the waiting list to order a 17?

No its more like saying a fox coupe with a 5 speed is more valuable than a hatch car. They are, I would know as I profited nicely on one.

I also just sold another car that was a 2006 model, zero options and it too is a performamce car that had a higher end model with more options yet it brought just 4k less than its original msrp with 61,000 miles on it. When the base car ends up around 500 units one year only in 1 year only colors etc. I can't help but think down the road it'll bring better money than a car they made several thousand units of. If an owner down the road wants to track the car it wouldn't be hard to outfit coolers by that time. If I weren't getting a 2017 I would have strongly considered a base.
First, If you are getting a 2017, you are getting the base model. Second, for 2017, there are no more tech or track models; the only other model is the "R". so there will not be "thousands" of "Tech" models out there. Third, the 2016 base does not have magnaride, heavy duty shocks, mode selection (?) or enhanced spoiler, or coolers; all of which would have to be added to a base using your prospective "owner down the road". So using your logic, a buyer would pay more for a "rare" 2016 base, spend at least $5k to add the missing performance enhancements, rather than get those performance enhancements already installed on an existing car which you claim will be at a lower price. Priceless!!!

I agree , the 2016 base model is a rare car because not many people want a car without magneride. I personally don't believe that rarity will make it valuable down the road. It's that way bc people are not interested in that particular package option.

I'm aware of every option and every package currently offered on the 2016 car. I had been on a list for a 2016, on that 2016 car I planned to order dib with black roof only. I went to PRI and spoke to a Ford Performance representative who told me that he knew there would be a few new colors and in his words "mild updates." I was in the process of selling a vehicle and felt it only made sense to talk to the dealer in which I planned to buy the 2016 from and move myself to the top of the 2017 list, which I did the following week.

So when I say I would strongly consider a base if I hadn't decided to purchase the 2017 it means the base 2016 with zero options.

Ford has currently produced over 1500 tech package cars, it is the most popular option and it is VERY possible that if the magic 5k units are produced for 2016 that 2000 or more could hit the market. 2000 would be "thousands" plural of a thousand.

In the sea of ADM's it's not at all out of reason to feel that a base at MSRP would be a better investment than a tech or track package car at 7-10k adm. You're looking at a car that out the door was below 54k to a car that would be north of 65k. I don't see the option car at adm fetching 10k more down the road. Aside from a 2015 tech or track car the base 2016.

If someone has desire to track the base car they could easily add coolers for far less than 5k and add more track oriented suspension that comes with springs and valving that would out perform the magnetic suspension on a race track that is a fact regardless of what some salesman spews. If the spoiler is a big deal there is already other options out there that'll do just fine and 1 that replicates the oem unit in carbon fiber. Not to mention you could purchase the tp spoiler if you so desired.

It's also that way because dealers will order optioned cars before a base in a mustang that starts above a fully loaded GT. PERIOD.

Every car that's local that's nested with it's wonderful 7-30k dollar adm has been optioned with either track or tech packages, stripes and 2 of the 3 have black roofs and car covers. 90% of the dealers who ordered these cars without a buyer took a shot in the dark and the average dealer personnel who order these see "leather and nav" and immediately check that option box.

Looks like some nice upgrades for the 2017 MY, are there going to be any new wheel options?
