Honda beats a 5.0?

If you think of a car as an appliance like a refrigerator and don't mind throwing away extra money they are ok. But if you want a fun car or want good value for your money - not the best choice - or even a good choice.

you really come of as a Honda hater. Did you drive an S2000 in 2000-2005?... I bet I'd make you barf in one on the track with the top down hitting 135mph+ on a strait. One of the best sports cars made period. I drive my Mustan GT convertable and you know what, I think Ford took notes on the S2000 (sit in both and look down the hood). Honda engines have quite a fine record with Wards awards, considered one of the best engine makers in the world (again for decades). Honda's have also always been know for their sportiness in all real world comparisons and have generally dominated on their comparable models for decades. The Accord has won Car&Drivers best more then any car made for a reason. In all cases, these facts trump one internet haters (keyboard cruiser) obvious fascination with trying to rip on the brand.

A true car enthusiast in brand agnostic, Jay Leno is a great example, hes the first guy to drive a Ford GT and the first guy to drive a new Acura NSX with the same enthusiasm.

The S2000 was a great car, from what I've read. No, I've never driven one. They are slow in a straight line and don't have much power by modern standards, but I'm sure they are fun to drive around corners. Not that easy to get your hands on, though.

This is the thing. The S2000 was a very unusual Honda. They didn't make very many. It wasn't like the Mustang (a cheap performance car for the masses), was it? And even the "special" Honda is somewhat underwhelming in performance with 5.4 0-60 and a 14.1 second quarter mile. It's 1980's fast... well not really fast - it's 1980's respectable for stock but slow compared to even cheap stuff like the Mustang from the 80s.

I agree that Jay is more brand agnostic than I - at least publicly. He is pretty much nice about any vehicle, because he loves being the guy that the manufacturers come to for reviews. I can afford to be honest, because I won't lose a shot at reviewing the next Lexus or something because I was honest about the last piece of garbage they gave to me. If you watch enough of Leno you can tell when he's underwhelmed by a car, though.

I can believe this. Much of the millennial generation is made up of latte drinking hipsters who tweet against capitalism on their apple iphones at star bucks.

Sports cars, actual sports cars, are not very popular in these sorts of circles. They have non-traditional preferences for their age.

A lot of people have tracked S2000s so that should speak for itself. It really was a sports car. Not a muscle car because that is not what Honda does or has ever done. The weight distribution was great on those cars. The front of the engine was back at about the center of the front wheel. 240hp out of a n/a 2.2l engine was impressive too. There were guys hitting high 13s in them. You had to wind it up to make power. They were very much "built", as the only real mods that made a difference was FI. I wanted one for a long time but didn't have the means back then.

I was unimpressed with the s2k. Still hate them. Their shitty quality interior, their maxed out engine, their shitty rear differential that could be broke on stock power, their shitty quality vert tops and that joke of rear window on the ap1 yellowing and or cracking. I prefer the rx8 chassis with an ls swap.

I had an '07 S2K (AP2), it was pretty fantastic, just a really slick execution of a "pure roadster". Stellar seats and shifter, good trunk space considering the overall size, super fast top operation (mine had zero issues), the only problem I ever had was a 7 year old OEM battery that pooped out.

They're pretty minimal, but that was the design goal, and it was definitely unique in the Honda lineup (as much as the NSX, in fact, they were both built at the Takanezawa plant). It's great as an extra car, for those perfect days (you never want to put up the top), but no so much for a DD, or road trip car, and obviously, the seating is limited

You can steal a Honda just by looking at it the wrong way. No anti-theft protection; you can start them with a screwdriver. In the same fashion that the Japanese are still using timing belts, they were behind the times when it came to vehicle security.

This is true.. Lol.

Back in my youth I had a friend who was a die hard Honda guy, every few months or so he had a new (used, pos really) civic hatch or coupe because they kept stealing his cars over and over.. Lol.

That being said, I love s2k's.. they are by far the most beautiful car Honda has ever produced.. the design still holds up today, it's just the details that feel dated because.. well, they are dated.

If they made a new modern s2k, that's a vehicle I would seriously consider owning... especially if the price was right.


Also, one more thing, that pic of that Integra at the track reminds me of one time I went to Moroso in palm beach for an outlaw night (no clocks, run anything) and there were only 2 imports among a sea of monstrous boosted domestics spraying more nitrous than old faithful does water. It was a blue (I assume turbo'd) Integra with a fmic and no front bumber. Dude got up to the line, launched it hard and broke down about 5ft later.. Lol. They had to push the car off the track and the entire crowd (was pretty crowded that night) laughed out loud.. it was pretty damn comical but I still felt bad for the dude Lol.

There are no Hondas worth investing money into. They are not high performance vehicles, period. The NSX got it's ass whooped by the C4 ZR1 for less money, the Integra Type R was nothing more than a ricer's wet dream, and the S2000 was a joke of a "sport car" that got beat on by stock F-Bodies and Mustangs. With the amount of problems that Honda vehicles have combined with the cost to maintain and repair them, they aren't good for anything.

Whatever you're on please do share. Not ever has Honda's intentions has it been to have your foot to the floor and go fast in a straight line. The vehicles mentioned have all been made for corner carving and canyon cruising. Just because they don't fit your needs it doesn't make it any less of a car.

:lol:This guy is a piece of work. As I've said before I've mostly owned American sports/muscle cars for the past 26 years, and I've driven and been in countless vehicles. My previous 2008 Accord V6, and my GF's 2015 Accord Sport are both very nice cars for the money. The build quality, materials, the way the doors shut, etc is great. It's very comfy, very roomy, has great visibility, has plenty of power for normal driving. Is great in the snow, and handles and corners surprisngly well, including @ 80mph+ on sweepers on the highway. At 32k miles so far it's been perfectly reliable and gets great mpg. I expect the car can go 200k miles or more with basic maintenance, no problem. There is a reason the Accord is so popular and award winning.
