Hi,

I am having trouble tracking my GT Premium order in COTUS. The order was submitted to Ford in January.

Assuming COTUS works (???), I get "No matching Vehicle found" when I enter the order number, the dealer code and my last name.

I'm sure the order number is right because Deysha found the order based on it and my dealer name.

But I am suspicious of the dealer code they gave me because a dealer employee in a tracking thread on another forum said that dealer codes were always 2 numeric an alpha and 2 or 3 numeric but my dealer (Chapman Ford) said their dealer code is F71174C. Is there a way for a customer to look up/confirm the actual dealer code?

I guess they could have messed up my last name in the order but they say they didn't.

http://www.fleet.ford.com/fleetdealers/

Go hear and put in the dealership name or the city where the dealership is located. It will give you the dealer code right under the name.
Thanks!

The code the dealer gave me was different than that web page says. The dealer told me F71174C but the web page says 71C174. So the dealer was wrong about every single character! But if you throw away the leading F, what was left had all the right characters but completely jumbled!

Unfortunately, COTUS still can't find my order even with the dealer code from the web page. Maybe I need to enter the letters in my last name in every possible order and with a random character thrown in. SMH

COTUS is a tracking site that is still in a pilot phase and has not been rolled out for all regions or vehicle nameplates, HoosierDaddy. It won’t work for any 2016MY.

Now I'm confused. If COTUS won't work for the current model year of any vehicle, what is the purpose of the pilot? Aren't prior model years already delivered and hence no tracking needed? So what is being piloted?

Then they wonder why people think American Car companies are clueless.

I have been trying for three weeks to track my car and keep getting that they can't find my info, now I know why, it doesn't work.

If it doesn't work, shut it down instead of us thinking we don't know how to type info into a computer.

My car was built Monday and it still doesn't show up as a good VIN or dealer code and order number.
He meant "fixed" as in he changes the COTUS acronym to COITUS. COTUS still doesn't work for 2016 builds. Your best bet is to bug your dealer and get with Deysha (@FordService) for updates.

This COTUS link was never to be shared with the public, guys. It was originally a pilot, that other customers decided to share on these forums. I understand how this may affect your daily updates check, but you are also welcomed to call your dealer, the CRC, and PM us here for info. So far, I have not received any updated info regarding COTUS, except for the fact it no longer works for any current or future MY.

Sorry for my attitude, but if it doesn't work, kill the link. You are setting a customer expectation that can not be met.

I understand you may have been told that but Ford published a COTUS Help document that is still available on-line.

The Help document contains the following (and other) statements that can not be interpreted in any way BUT that COTUS is to be used by customers:

3. How do I get the Order/ Dealer Sales Code and VIN# do I use? The dealer code and order number will be provided by your sales consultant after the order has been placed.
6. Are the images pictures of my vehicle? No, we are not currently able to provide pictures of your vehicle. The images on the site are computer generated and are intended to look similar to your vehicle.
8. What Summary Information will show? The vehicle summary section was patterned after the Build and Price summary on the Brand site. It is not meant to be comprehensive. You should go to your order documents for a complete list of features
1. The Status Description is for informational purposes only. Actual timing will be unique to your order. Consult your sales consultant for complete details.
3. Estimated Delivery date is a calculated date based on the current status of your vehicle which is compared against the history of vehicles in that status from the scheduling system.
4. The Vehicle Summary area does not show all features ordered. Consult your order documents for a complete list of
features ordered.
As already pointed out, if the system was meant to be a private test, it is not difficult to block access and it would be beyond belief that it would not be labeled as such if it wasn't blocked. And it would be pointless to publish a Help document aimed at customers.

Trouble is, a private test requires a private line ;) I know that back in the day ('70s and '80s), Ford dealerships had leased data lines for the order dept., service dept., and finance dept. to interface directly with Ford's (probably mainframe) systems. Not sure how that happens now, as a leased line would be an incredibly expensive overkill. My guess is that dealers probably have a VPN connection over the internet to Ford for internal systems like these...someone at corporate probably wanted to roll the test out quickly, so they put it on the internet, not thinking about us enthusiasts :headbonk: 90% of your guys ordering F-150's and Focuses for fleets aren't going to care. Mustang nuts are  Wonder who the genius is who leaked the COTUS site information to us? :D Had to have been someone who works at a dealership and was part of the test...

Thanks again for the information, HoosierDaddy! Will you please link me to that “Help Document?”
