Would like to know your opinion on a used 2013/2014 GT Premium vs a new 2016 GT Base.

The car is purely a toy and will be paid for with cash. (I am at a stage in life where I am not interested in financing anything.) I have a self-imposed limit of approximately $30,000 for this purchase. The car will have a manual transmission. I see advertised pricing in my region that will get me into a 2016 GT Base for that amount; or for slightly less, I can get a low mileage and fully loaded 2013/2014 GT Premium.

My primary use for the car is running errands around town, 100-200 mile freeway runs, and just driving for fun. The car is very unlikely to see a track. Also, not a lot of curvy roads where I live.

The biggest reason for me to get a 2013/2014 Premium is to get the heated leather seats and other creature comforts and because I very much dislike the tiny screen in the 2016 Base. The reason to get the 2016 is because it would be new, have the new body style, and IRS.

Please let me know what you like & dislike about the 2013/2014 Premium and what you like & dislike about the 2016 Base. Also, which would you purchase if it was your $30,000? (Not interested in opinions on the Ecoboost; I really want the V-8.) Thanks.

I don't care about Premium, so I vote new / base. If buying a used car, I would prefer leather seats, but I would still want a good deal. Such as $23, for 2011+ 5.0 with < 15k miles. But those don't exist in my market.

I've seen more than a few 2015 Premium GTs (under 10k miles) on lots here that went for 30k-33k. Keep an eye out and you can get the best of both worlds!

Definately the new 2016. Reasons in no particular order:

1.) More attractive body style(in my opinion)
2.) More horsepower
3.) Independent rear suspension
4.) It's NEW! Unlike used, you know for a fact no asshole abused the car with endless burnouts/hard launches and then decided to sell it.

The only reason I can think of why you may want the 2013/14 is because it's considerably lighter but being as you said you weren't going to track or drag it, then it really doesn't matter.

Neither. Hunt for a used 2015 GT Premium, new body style, more hp, IRS and the heated seats and touchscreen.

Same car as the 2016 without the hood vent turn signals (big whoop) and Sync 2 instead of Sync 3.

You should be able to find a 2015 GT premium for around $25-30k with 5-10k miles.

I too debated this issue. I bought a 2015 GT premium instead of the 2013/2014 models, and for not much more $. I've never regretted that for a second. All I've talked about is how happy I've been with the "new" one over the "old" one. Now that the S550 is everywhere, new and used, I think the values of prior years will take another depreciation hit.

Heck your user is 6gFan. You already know what you want.

anyone know how to check if a used Mustang has ever had a custom tune loaded?

Custom tune can impact power train warranty, so I would want a discount for that, at least for cars that are advertised with a remaining warranty

As much of a premium fan I am, I'd take the base GT or get a premium PP EB in your situation. Don't go backwards and get a used car

I love My S550 that said there are only two mustang I would consider used, 1st 2012 or 2013 Boss or a GT 500. Most people that have them are not using as daily drivers. They are pretty much sunny weekend garage queens. "The car is purely a toy" a 2012/13 Boss will go up in value GT 500 should hold its value.
