Was shopping this morning to pick up springs, did a quick cross shop and saw that Tirerack is having a special on these...cheapest I saw anywhere. $227 with free shipping on anything over $50. I also live in a state they don't have a facility so no taxes.

Can you get the car aligned back into spec without CC plates with the Pro-Kit?

not sure. to be honest it would be good to know. I came from the Audi scene so the mustang is all new to me. Bought them based on a detailed writeup I saw comparing a number of kits on here.

Pro-kit aligns just fine. My alignment wasn't off by much after the springs. Most of the vendors on here will price match, plus it'll build a relationship with them. Just a thought.

FWIW, I got too excited about buying parts last Thanksgiving, and after the fact felt that I didn't do enough research with some of my purchases. I hadn't had a Mustang in 13 years (Fox with all the bolt-ons), and bought one of the first of the 2016's, and immediately got all mod-happy. Specific to springs, I got a great deal on Eibach Sportlines, but later on did some research in the forum and came up with two main issues: S550 works better with linear rather than progressive springs, and going much heavier in spring rate than stock will cause your shocks to be mismatched. The Pro Kit is not quite as low as the Sportline, and a little bit lighter spring rate, but I wish I would have gone with the BMR Performance Springs (search on this forum).

One of the other members posted some useful spring rate comparison values (lbs/in);

GT: 160 / 668
GT PP: 165 / 728
BMR Performance: 170 / 740 (+3% / +1.5% vs stock PP)
BMR Handling: 300 / 980 (+82% / +35% vs stock PP)
CJPP: 182-217 / 799
Pro-kit: 200-314 / 800-914
Sportline: 217-331 / 879-994

Note that the progressive springs have ranges related to how deeply you are compressed (increasing), and with the limited suspension travel of these cars lowered, I would bet that they tend to run very quickly into the higher spring rates. Then you get the spring effect also of the bumpstops compressing and pushing back, which magnifies the effect. No wonder that the stock shocks can't keep up.

But if you're into stance first and performance second...Eibach Sportline is pretty awesome for that

Awesome info, thanks for posting. I was actually going to go with the sportlines but as you indirectly pointed I read that anything more than an inch drop with a PP car upset the handling quite a bit. My intent is to eliminate the wheel gap but keep as much of the handling characteristic unchanged. I will have to look at the BMR ones.

Since I am in the same boat as you being mod happy, in fact it looks like our cars are identical, what have been the mods you regretted, and ones you are happy with.

I did a roush axleback, gt350 steering wheel, ford racing shift knob, and jlt catch can

In terms of positive impact for dollar spent, I'd say exhaust #1 (and I see you already did that) if you care about a muscle-car feel (which I do) - catbacks eliminate the resonator underneath, and axlebacks do not, but either will make it feel way more special to drive the car. This is a completely subjective thing - the stock exhaust actually flows quite well, although heavy. But dropping just those pounds won't even be noticeable on a 3700lb beast. So definitely no expectations of performance improvement. For both actual functional improvement and driving experience improvement, I'd say the MGW Race-spec is a must have. Like going from a noodle in your hand to a hammer. and if you drive hard, it could easily save your syncros, so there's value there too. And remove the stupid clutch pedal spring (search forum).

I love power, and the tune definitely unlocked some more hp and responsiveness, but the reality is that these cars are so traction-limited (no quattro here!), you'll have more fun and go faster just improving driving skills with autocrosses and track days. So buy those :)....and the tires and brake pads that go with 'em

These cars handle just fine on progressive springs. The Ford Racing handling pack comes with progressive springs--what does that tell you? I have Sportlines and have tracked my car (which also has BMR sway bars), and the car handled extremely well and was very predictable. Sportlines come with new bumpstops to replace the factory ones.

With that said, depending on the spring rate, you may run into the issue where the car is underdamped for the springs. You can solve that with the FRPP track shocks/struts, should you so desire. I ended up getting them for my car, but you may find that you don't need them, depending on the roads that you're driving on.

I'm actually looking at the kit with sway bars. It's about $350 more than springs alone. Any one go this rout? Your opinion?

Sway bars make a HUGE difference in how the car handles and how much flatter it stays in the turns.

I have the Steeda sway bars and their billet mounts. What a big difference it made.

I agree with Todd-the sway bars make a big difference, especially when paired with springs. I would definitely get the kit.

I assume we're all talking even an upgrade on the PP? Did it also have an improvement with strait up traction? I did just order the kit $621 delivered tomorrow!

Yep. I have the GTPP and it is a huge upgrade over the stock setup. I mean huge...I am speaking from the Steeda perspective, of course. Not sure how the Eibach stuff is compared to Steeda but I am sure it will be a nice upgrade over the factory PP pieces.
