Feel free to search the forms but I feel like I’ve seen more issues (tolerances, breaking, etc.) from aftermarket OPGs than I have from the factory ones.

People who have them and don’t have issues will say it’s worth the investment. People who don’t have them and don’t have problems will say it’s not worth the investment.

^^^^ Agree with this 100%.

Here’s some threads that contain factual OPG info, take time to read them, because not all OPGs are the same and yes there have been reported failures with some aftermarket OPG’s too. Just because there is an aftermarket OPG, doesn’t mean it’s better.

If you’re going to attemp OPG/timing yourself, or get a shop to do it, here’s important notes so check the below threads before jumping in without knowledge:

Incorrect timing marks on crank sprockets:

Clearance and other important OPG issues discussed:

Ford Performance OPG notes:

How common the OPG issue is:

And some of the consensus on here in many of the prior OPG posts is that the Ford Performance OPG’s are a better choice for what is available.

And hit this older thread RE: Whipple and broken cranks:

Also to note:
You must must must read ANY fine print OR the entire Warranty provisions offered on ANY forced induction kit. Even if installed by a Ford Dealer or a Ford Performance Dealer or if it’s a “Ford Performance” kit - the warranty starts from the vehicle’s invoiced date - it doesn’t start the day the kit is installed…

The Ford Performance Warranty doc is attached…. Read the sections that are specific to Superchargers… and ALL the statements after those sections.

Some people don’t realized that just because they see “3 year warranty” doesn’t necessarily mean it’s 3 years from the point of install…. Nope….

Even the Roush kit has similar wording…

So be aware of all the details with any forced induction kit - just because it has a warranty and is name brand “ho bo this or that” doesn’t mean it’s an invincible part or component… its designed and made by humans and is to be eventually blown up or broken by humans….
