I think the numbers a very close. The z28 Chevy provided Motor Trend put down 469RWHP. The LS7 in the z28 is a 505HP engine.
So, the z28 Chevy provided Motor Trend is ONLY losing 7.5% to the wheels. The z28 usually loses 11-12% to the wheels.
How could this be???
Well, the only explaination is the LS7 in the z28 Chevy sent Motor Trend had a 530+hp engine in it (available from GM Performance). So, I could really care less about Motor Trends outcome... for one of two reasons...
1.) Either Motor Trend was too stupid to see the discrepancy OR,
2.) Motor Trend was in on the discrepancy.
#2 seems more likely because they asked "What happened to the extra power" and blamed the HP loss on the GT350.
The GT350 in that test lost about 11% to the wheels. Right where it should be...
You will not hear or see Camaro fans discussing this discrepancy. This is because it would indicate Chevy is using what we call a "Ringer". A vehicle that is tuned and adjusted to perform beyond the OEM cars abilities. This is a regular practice at General Motors.
I believe it comes out on the 25thDid I miss something? Where is this GT350 vs .GT350R vs. Z/28 Head to Head that Randy Pobst supposedly has done?????
Yes hopefully it will come out at noon. Was the head to head supposed to be released today?
More than 3 seconds between a gt350tp and r? How long is the track?Well the R is 1.2 seconds faster than the Z, and the Z is 1.9 seconds faster than the 350TP. Seems like most were right. Tis a really awesome time to be us car guys/gals!
