I really don't believe the Z28 was a ringer

The z28 Chevy provided Motor Trend put down 469RWHP. The LS7 in the z28 is a 505HP engine.

So, the z28 Chevy provided Motor Trend is ONLY losing 7.5% to the wheels. The z28 usually loses 11-12% to the wheels.

How could this be???

Well, the only explaination is the LS7 in the z28 Chevy sent Motor Trend had a 530+hp engine in it (available from GM Performance). So, I could really care less about Motor Trends outcome... for one of two reasons...

1.) Either Motor Trend was too stupid to see the discrepancy OR,

2.) Motor Trend was in on the discrepancy.

#2 seems more likely because they asked "What happened to the extra power" and blamed the HP loss on the GT350.

The GT350 in that test lost about 11% to the wheels. Right where it should be...

You will not hear or see Camaro fans discussing this discrepancy. This is because it would indicate Chevy is using what we call a "Ringer". A vehicle that is tuned and adjusted to perform beyond the OEM cars abilities. This is a regular practice at General Motors.
I think the numbers a very close.

My stock Z/28 put down 466 whp and 444 lb just after its break in. This was taken 62 weeks ago by my speed shop in hot South Florida weather.

While, yes I am a huge fan of the z/28, I am not just a "chevy" guy. I trailer my car with my Raptor.

Anyways, its just dyno numbers, excited to see the head to head comparison. :headbang:

LS7 in the Z/28 uses a different intake and exhaust manifolds than the C6Z for those that don't know. The engine was certified at 505hp in Corvette trim. The CAI and better exhaust manifolds help the Z/28 put more to the ground.

Well the R is 1.2 seconds faster than the Z, and the Z is 1.9 seconds faster than the 350TP. Seems like most were right. Tis a really awesome time to be us car guys/gals!

I wonder what the consensus is now on the SS competing with the base GT350 on a track?

Also, the 350TP was tested, not the base 350. I wouldn't say that the SS would be even with the base 350, but that it would be closer than people might think.

The TP really only adds coolers and magneride. We still have no idea how the base model suspension rides. The SS stock suspension puts up better numbers than MRC equipped cars. Same could be said about the GT350.

I had forgotten about the 1LE though. It ran pretty well and was only a few seconds off the Z/28 in most cases. Yeah I can see the SS being within a few seconds for sure now.
