With Motertrends head to head between the two cars listed above, which car do you think they will choose as the winner and why?

Personally, the 350R is a better car but I think they will end up saying the z/28 is the winner due to their Chevy biased opinion.

I agree with you for the same reasons. I hope they surprise me though!

I think the order of fastest laps will be

GT350R
Z/28
GT350 TP.

I think however that they will state the GT350 with track pack is the best bang for the buck!

FPC, costs less than 75k and you can order the car in a couple of versions that suits your needs. How could they NOT select the GT350/350R????

MotorTrend said in their First Drive of the R (December Issue) that "The GT350R might be the best sports coupe we've driven." The Z/28 doesn't stand a chance by the way MT drooled over the car.

They immediately started equalizing the Z28 from a performance standpoint though. They may end up saying that the 350 and 350R are better all around cars, but I'm betting that they still say the Z28 is better at the track.

Other thing the GT350 has going for it is the driving experience. You could actually see out and don't feel like you're in a battle tank like the Z28.

I'm guessing that they'll say that the 350R is more refined and a better overall package, even if the performance numbers are close.

That you basically can't get a Z-28 as a 2016 model is likely going to be a factor as well.

This is what I overheard from the marketing rep at the lime rock track tour. He plainly said they had a z/28 and the r was faster, but not the non-r.
Driver, tires, conditions unknown so take it for what it's worth. Little

I watched a yahoo review on the GT350R. I believe the guy in the video was a retired race car driver, im not sure. But he stated that the strong point on the z/28 was the brake setup it has. But at MSRP the GT350R was a much better buy. He made a comment that you're not getting 10k worth of performance out of the z28 compared to the 350R

I think that's because everyone assumes that the CC brakes are going to be far superior. Ford did a lot of work to make sure that these brakes gave nothing up to CC brakes while being more affordable. Only multiple hard laps back to back will tell the story, so nobody knows yet.

Just read that also. No way the Z28 comes close to the R for driving enjoyment and lap times, at least the current one. The next one however who knows.

I hate the idea of an armchair comparison, as there's no real world data to support such. But by looking at data we have (bhp/torque, weight, gearing, dyno testing) I don't feasibly comprehend how the Z/28 has a chance... The R is too far advanced and the powerplant alone is night n day leagues above that of the Z.

All I can say is wait n see for a realistic comparison. I would like to Randy Probst's opinions and drives as he is pretty unbiased. He clearly stated the LS302 was his favorite pony racecar until the Z/28 came out.

Well, I'm going to assume that GM will up their game and catch or pass the gt350 (maybe the r) in all out track performance. Then likely Ford will do that same.... This is how the breed improves. Both cars are so very far beyond my skill set that I will just buy the car that I like. GT350 Tech Pack, driven everyday and enjoyed every corner!

Cars are so very good and capable now, that it (for me at least) comes down to what floats your boat.
