I finished a few things tonight. Changed the pony courtesy lights to a lighter green (again, Oracal 8300 vinyl.) Its brighter, and looks better than the dark green imho.

And I removed the stock 5.0 badges, and replaced them with some plastic-dip painted NOS ones. It was easier than trying to paint in place, and I wanted to see how they had the mounting holes.

Fishing line, heat gun, vinyl applicator or plastic scraper, goo gone, Windex, and soft soft clean polishing rags, and patience. ;)

I'll get some better pics of it in the daylight tomorrow.

Youre a maniac zombie. Love the creativity and the willingness to change up your stock car so quickly. You're likely one of the first in the country to have already customized his S550.

Looking forward to daytime pics. Any more reaction from strangers out there?

I like the lighter, brighter pony light, and be sure to save those original emblems for when you auction it off at Barrett Jackson someday :)

Oh, and a quick story. So, get the 5.0 badges on.. Decide to clean it up (which was a mistake, drizzling rain and construction around the car wash.)

Did a quick soap and rinse spray, careful of the Plastidip badges, and went on the highway to "dry off" [ahem].

When accelerating on the onramp, I heard a thumpy thump noise by the passenger side door at about 60 mph. no clue for a second then about 100 yards later, dread set in. The passenger side badge must have fallen off! :eyebulge: What else could it be? That area of the highway is dark, and full of terrors (and lots of traffic), so I'm screwed. Its gone. I will have to listen to the crap at work, post an embarrassing comment on M6G, order a new one, or mess with the stock one, and I drive back home feeling like a dumbass for not making sure the emblems were on tight after the car wash.

On the way home I keep trying to see if there is a reflection of the badge in cars next to me, and I debate pulling over to check. But I know its gone, and I cautiously drive home and into the garage, worried the other badge may come off.

As I walk around to the passenger side, I see the large clump of mud that hit the side of the care and made a nice little splatter dance across the side of the vehicle. Very close to the passenger side 5.0 badge that stares out at me, absorbing most reflective light.

I have never been more happy to see a dirty car in my life. :headbonk:

WOW! Honestly? I only had the money to get new cars after I was behind the 40's. So getting a new car and already take badges off and do other things - that's like sitting in a horror movie for me! (I do not like them!) I am getting already crazy when my wife likes to put a sticker on her new 2014 GC. "Can I put this st....?" NOOOOOO!
I know. I am getting old! But I am watching and reading what else is coming up in your "movie".
My old 2000 C230 gets once in a while a full body plastidip from white to orange and back to rusty silver after pulling it again.

Everything completely reversible in less than an hour. :)

Oh, I should add: When I had the BULLITT, I COMPLETELY left it alone. I couldn't being myself to mod a single thing, other that the "EJECT" button cigarette lighter, which was for fun only since I don't smoke. :)

I totally get where you are coming from, and its not "getting old." Zombie is a daily driver, so I'm a bit more willing to mess with it. I'm pretty much done now, from a cosmetic standpoint.

:lol:Great post man. And sick car. Really, I love it - and I was skeptical at first of the murdered zombie theme (meaning black and green!), but it's turning out awesomely. Needs to make an appearance on The Walking Dead.

Looks great! Did you take pics of the 5.0 mounting holes? Also were they hard to remove? Plastic or metal?

Yes, good point, Po-Po, you can just turn it off Fionic. Although thats a mixed success. :)

Here are pics of the various settings. The first three look pretty much the same to me. The Dimming setting via switches on the dash is at the lowest also.

  1. Mode Night - Auto Dim On - Brightness and Offset lowest setting
  2. Mode Night - Auto Dim Off - Brightness lowest setting
  3. Mode Auto - Auto Dim Off - Brightness lowest setting
  4. Off :)
On our Jeep Grand Cherokee the 8" has a button to switch off the screen in the night. Not on the MySync? Safety issues!
