Might take a look and see if this setting is available: Post#7

http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f12/13-myford-touch-screen-off-21023/

I know my 2011 F350 had a physical button that I could press and the screen would go through 3 modes, one being display OFF.
Yes, good point, Po-Po, you can just turn it off Fionic. Although thats a mixed success. :)

Here are pics of the various settings. The first three look pretty much the same to me. The Dimming setting via switches on the dash is at the lowest also.

  1. Mode Night - Auto Dim On - Brightness and Offset lowest setting
  2. Mode Night - Auto Dim Off - Brightness lowest setting
  3. Mode Auto - Auto Dim Off - Brightness lowest setting
  4. Off :)

I'm glad they kept that as an option, I could never get the MFT displays dark enough for those long night drives! If I recall the NAV still functions behind the scenes and if you touch the display it will come back to life... Might need to check that, it's been a few years since I've had a MFT system.

Here are the pics, not sure it helps show what I mean. Be aware I have the color set to a puke green (to keep with the theme) so a dark blue or red would tone down some of then interior.)

See the differences in brightness The gauges are much lower, than the screens and the ambient.

Excuse the crappy floor mats.. its been raining a bunch and waiting on all-weather pony mats. :-)

Another suggestion of mine would be to choose a darker picture with shades of gray and black...no white if ya can and that blue is pretty bright as will. Gray's, Black, Dark Green's and Browns should help with that.

I tried, doesn't help as much as one would thing. The brightness is still there, even with all black background.

Ok, I think we should bring this to Fords attention then as having a bright screen can really effect your night time vision. We could either make a new thread solely for this issue and contact Ford Service/Tricia or Rachel. Or just contact Ford Service. Your choice as I don't have my car yet and can't directly comment on it.

If ya do make a new thread, post it up in the Issues, Recall's area; it will be more easily noticed by those above watching the forums :ninja:

Hopefully Ford can fix this with a later software update.

Yeah, I future update should be 100% all the way to 0% specific dimming for each element, the mini screen between speedo and tach, and the MFT. That way, an owner could set it anyway they wanted. I also want to see 100% to 0% dimming for ambient.

Some colors are more luminous that others, so giving the control to us would be perfect imho.

Dang Zombie, that is crazy bright in those night dash pics. Surely they did not design it that way. Has to be something wrong or they really missed the boat. Have you had a chance to see the dealer service after dark yet? Just curious as to what they say.

This is off topic, but is redline at 6500 or 7000?

So after looking at all these MFT pictures, serious question...do you think you really need MFT or could you easily get by without it? I haven't seen much other then the diagnostics that really seems useful.

I believe its 6800RPM. Why on earth Ford marked it the way they did is beyond me. When does shift light trip? Also what was 2014 redline?

In 27 years of driving I got by without MFT just fine. That said, I'm a techie geek and always go for the latest gadget. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes.

Hey Zombie (or anyone else with MFT), when doing bluetooth audio, does the artist and song name come on the screen?
