Mine seems to friction fit pretty well, but I have the Ford trunk liner so maybe that makes it a little tighter. I don't think it's gonna move and my V-6 doesn't have enough grunt to make it move, I don't think, I need to check it.

Got it wired up yet, how does it sound?

I tried to order my zenclosure yesterday, but Mike was out of pocket... :(

I plan on having this in place for track days, so velcro is a no go.
I have a roll of industrial grade velcro (2-3" wide) and I've never had a box move on me during autocross. You could always give that a try before putting holes in your trunk.

Not yet, have some wiring components on order. Pep Boys was sky high on these. I was going to maybe wire the sub up this weekend, but the more I listen, the more I see I will be disappointed in the overall sound. I am thinking heck with it, I need to replace at least the door with quality separates and get that Rockford Fosgate 5 channel amp and have all the speakers including sub go through that. Not sure replacing rears is even going to make a difference to my ears. In my experience, factory speakers are never as efficient as aftermarkets and they will play quieter, and much better Xover'd and amped (did this with my F150 and was happy) and then I can crank it and the rest will keep up with the bass. It's just not loud and clear enough for me, the stock system. Now here's my problem. How to get the speaker level signal to the trunk and back to the doors and A-pillars. This is my hurdle right now. If I can get a solid plan for that I'm ready. I would like to do this myself.

I have received everything except the box (should be here on Thursday) and ready for an install this weekend. I just don't know how I'm going to wire every thing. I'm setting my sub up to 2ohms for 500w. I also bought a LOC and a gain knob with 4rca. Not sure where those four go. Also wondering how I would tune everything being my amp only has input sensitively, bass boost, and lpf frequency... This is all to confusing haha

Welp, apparently I cannot use the bass control knob since there is no line out on my amp. Does that mean I can't control how loud the sub is? That sucks :/ also there is no gain setting on the amp unless that's what the bass boost is.

The input sensitivity IS the gain. Yes, you can use the control knob, but why does a modern sub amp not have one already or at least available as an option? Make sure there's not a little plug for an optional remote, that's the way you want to go if you can. To use your control knob, you have to run RCA's from the line level converter all the way up to under the dash where you mount the knob, then another set from the knob back to the amp.

And make sure you do your setup with the remote knob set to MAX. Pretend it's not even there. It's there to cut the signal if you need to. If later you find you need a little more bass with some music, then increase the 'input sensitivity' a little.

Hey,
You can use the bass control knob

here is how I did it:
Connect the speaker cables to the LOC,
connect RCA cables to LOC and then connect to "bass control knob"
Connect second set of RCA cables from "bass control knob" to amplifier
Then you are done :)

I hope that made sense, it works perfectly for me :headbang:

I thought the LOC is to convert the L/R speaker wires at the rear deck speakers, to line-in for your sub? But if the rear speakers have any sort of high-pass filter, then that will not work.

It is was me, I would skip the extra level control. I would just use the controls at the sub amp. After a time, you will arrive at the best overall setting, and then leave it there. At that point, you could use the regular head unit tone controls, if necessary.

The Bass Boost control is probably a parametric EQ filter at a set frequency and set 'Q' value. Or it might be an underdamped HPF2 filter. Then you can boost at that particular frequency if desired. Start with this control at 0. If its center frequency is low enough, it can be used to boost the bottom end of the subwoofer and pull it up back to flat.

As for the low-pass filter setting, that is best determined with an acoustic measurement of the inside of the car first. Again, rear seats up will already provide an acoustic lowpass filter, but I don't (yet) know that characteristic. IOW, it may be best to set the LPF artificially high so as to prevent a "hole" in the mid- or upper-bass band.

Without measurements, we all are truly flying blind. I need to start a project thread of my own, but its pace would likely disappoint.

I hear you on the pace thing... hard to find enough time to get into a flow.

BTW, "Grabber Blue with extremely wide yellow stripes"... CLASSIC! :D

My car is stored in the garage for another month. With this mild winter, I try to at least do some small thing to it each weekend. I am so burned out on audio (20+ years) that it is hard to get inspired to do car audio. It's even harder than home audio!

Thanks for the compliment on my car's description - you are the 2nd to comment. Hey, what else could I do? I love Grabber Mustangs, but the color was not available. And maybe it is over the top for the s550 look. So this way I get the yellow car, but breakup the lemon drop with Shelby Grabber stripes. It pops now. My car really does look better in person than in photos. It turns some heads, and yes, Mustang fans' heads. Can't wait to add 10" wheels this year. (The car seems to be the third person in our relationship. No, it is not male or female, and it does not have a name. It is a car.)

Ok it's kinda making sense lol. So here's what I'm getting.
1. Hook up rear deck speakers to LOC
2. Hook up rca cables from loc to remote knob "in"
3. Connect another set of rca cables from remote knob "out" to line in on amp.
Am I correct? Thanks!
