Looks like I'm in for a project haha thanks! And btw, Should I just leave the bass boost alone? I'll be tuning the gain on the amp with my multimeter to get it perfect and then just use the remote knob to higher and lower my "perfect" gain from the front of my vehicle. Also how would I tune lpf? And the remote turn on would be tapped into one of the rear speakers? Sorry I'm a noob when I comes to tuning subs :headbonk:

Why not skip the remote control at first, just to get up and running? Then you can add it in later.

Start with the bass boost at zero. Look in the amp specs for its center frequency. It really needs to be below 50Hz to be of any true usefulness.

Between the bass boost, and head unit bass control you effectively have two bass tone controls. Because the head unit control is sure to be at a higher frequency point, say >100Hz.

Just got my box in, they packed it well! Haven't taken all the wrapping off yet. I was going to get a 5 channel amp but now that I found the occupancy mode time alignment setting of the base stereo, I don't know, maybe I can use my vintage Hifonics Thor. Will def make that single 10" pound! Can go with stock speakers till I blow them! And I have never seen this before but look what I found! At Walmart of all places. A line level converter WITH a subwoofer control knob AND remote turn on lead! Perfect since my vintage amp has no speaker level inputs. But now I need a subwoofer crossover. Does anyone make a simple cheap one?

What made you decide to go with one 10"? I'm curious because I can't decide if I want one 10", two 10s, or one 12? lol

Or two 12's... why pay for one when you can pay for twice as many!

I went with one 10" because I had the sub on hand brand new in the box. Bought it years ago for an install on a Honda Pilot that never happened. A single 10 will play tighter and with enough amp is loud enough for me. Also, using a single leaves the other side for equipment. So the 10 goes into the Mustang and the 4 Alpine 6 1/2" coaxials I got for the Pilot will go into my other new car a 2015 Honda Cr-V. The CR-V also needs a sub and I'm thinking of one of those under seat subs. I know not to expect much performance, but it will be a major improvement and I'm not willing to lose ANY space in that car. Space is why we bought it.

Box came in today. I decided to go with the 2 10" front firing box with recessed sub mounts. I'm gonna try to get it installed today after work and see how it sounds. I currently have a 3.5 ft^3 box with aeroports tuned at 35hz and it's just too big. My ultimate goal is a stealth install (hence the forward firing box so I can hide the subs) taking up as little room as possible. I'll relocate my amps to the spare tire well on Saturday.

Box came in!! Very high quality and they shipped it so nicely! I'm not sure whether I want to put the polyfill in it or not though

Got it installed this evening but I still need to relocate my amps to clean everything up and be able to push the box all the way forward. Don't mind the wiring, I had to pull it all out to get the box in and I'm moving my amps on saturday.

Subs are some old Cerwin Vega Vmax's but they've served me very well over the years. I do think it's time to upgrade though!

The sound is obviously quieter than my ported box but very clean, punchy, and more than enough to satisfy me as I'm trying to transition into more of an SQ build.

I tapped the rear view camera wire along the top of the trunk near the rear speakers. Typically you'd set the LPF to at or around 80hz.

Set the lpf using the dial next to the input sensitivity... somewhere around 80Hz to 100Hz depending on the music you listen to. Then increase the bass boost to get the level you want.

In the process of hiding the wiring but figured I'd take photos before it gets dark. Decided on my amp layout like this for easier adjusting of the settings.

It's a rats nest right now.
