Great job, OP! Very clean install on that amp and love the fabrication skills/ideas! Your thread gives me upgrade-itis. I went with a single JL 12" in a Stealthbox b/c I didn't want to lose the passthrough on the seats. Every once in a while, I actually use it.

Question: Is the sub box anchored down somehow? I know it butts against the back of the seats, but what about under acceleration? I've seen loose sub boxes punch holes in rear fenders.

No, but you can secure it with a simple bracket.

The zenclosure box is a pretty tight fit but it would still be a good idea to anchor it down

It is upgrade time once again. The fit and finish of the Zen box is top shelf.
I chose the 2 x 10" front firing box as I wanted tight not boomy bass.
The inner cubic feet dimension had to reduced for the subs I am using.
The "Zens' also were very fast in building and shipping the box to me.
I think it arrived packed very good in about a week.

I scored some Hertz HX-250 subs for $220 a piece on a closeout.
They are installed with Spax screws,pre-drilled and a touch of wood glue.

The box fits nice and tight in the trunk opening.

To power these pups I chose a Hertz HCP 1DK 1000 watt monoblock amp.

I machined some 3/8" aluminum hex stock into standoffs to hang the amp from the rear package tray area. The ends are tapped for #10-32 screws.

It hangs nice and sturdy and still leaves enough room to slide the box out.

Here it is all wired up.

I wrote a quick file for the Helix DSP to upload tomorrow which should be close to tune this in.

Anyone that has wondered about the zen boxes should not hesitate, they are quality pieces.

Any questions,please ask away.

Jeff
Jeff,

I have two JL 8 W7’s which need about 1.87 cuft including sub displacement. Do they have a box that will front fire in that size?

Email them with the style of box you are looking at and the sub's part number and specs.
Ported versus sealed has different volume needs.
According to JL's website, each sealed compartment needs .875 cu. ft. for that sub.
They will make the inside match each speaker.
You will not be disappointed I can reassure you.

Resurrecting an old thread. I am looking at a very similar setup, forward firing twin 10's using the sealed Zenclosure box with the recessed mounting. Any regrets with the forward firing setup? I am looking for hard, clean bass for rock and similar, not the boomy type. I am considering mounting an LC2i and amp directly on the aft face of the box.
