Deliveries for the sixth-generation Camaro have been abysmal, falling steadily since its 2016 introduction. Last year, just under 51,000 found homes. Sales figures for 2019 aren’t looking much better.
According to the report, development for the sixth-gen Camaro Z/28 got as far as the powertrain and business planning stages. Allegedly, GM was developing a new engine for the Z/28 – the LT3, a 6.6-liter naturally aspirated V8 and a successor to the LS7 from the fifth-generation Z/28. However, GM killed the engine program in November 2018.

Ha. Don't get me started on Miata sales. Miata fanboys think it should be selling like hotcakes, or would if they'd just do this or that. But it's literally too small a niche. Still, everyone should drive one at least once.

GM always makes the mistake of focusing too much on what hardcore Camaro fans want and ends up with the least livable pony car on the market.

Add in too many engines, too many trim levels. Three engines, seven trim levels, three transmissions... etc. All of it eats into the profit margin so that it's probably not going to be worth while to take the hit it creates on their CAFE numbers for much longer.

Ford has the right model in making sure the car is livable, keeping options manageable, and charging a major premium for the models they put a lot of extra into.

This is such a stupid response. If it wasn’t for cars like the Camaro, Ford would still be producting 4.6L 3V Mustang’s with like 350 horsepower to this day. The more rwd V8’s on the market, the better.

All you'll ever need if you just want to dodge a few orange cones on a Saturday afternoon. There just isn't a ton of people out there. Willing to buy an 80 grand car. Then take it to a road course. And wear out. 4 grand worth of tires and brakes. To pretend their driving the mach 5.

It's very sad to see this- as it's the start of the declining car market as people favor big trucks and SUV's. People will pay big bucks for trucks- and the more plush the better. Cars are much less profitable for automakers and you need to know the market and what people are looking for. Ford did a better job of pricing and marketing the Mustang- is mainly whey I bought my 2018. I preferred the Camaro but the Camaros I had in mind were 38-over 40K- and they were V6's. I got my GT for 33K, otherwise I would have sprung for a Camaro.

Chevy went the wrong route. Moved more towards the Vette but not as good. Should have stayed classic muscle\pony while encouraging a strong aftermarket.
