I have done the NJ Gran Fondo which is on a much more sane roadways. They even had Jersey cops stopping traffic for us. Hard 109 miles but so worth it.

The scariest is when the front tire locks up unexpectedly. 99% of the time you're going down. Mt. biking you get to play with air pressure in the tires too. Not so many years ago I was trying to learn how to climb a steep muddy hill. Adjusting air pressure was one of the last things I tried and the first thing to work, felt like a dumb ass. So many times I lost momentum going up and/or started spinning the rear tire and then fell on my side at 0 mph and then sliding down the muddy hill. Probably looked hilarious but I was determined to figure it out. Dropped PSI in the rear and went right up it like it was nothing. Then a month later I did the group ride event that caused the training to begin with. Was a warm 45ish degrees and raining and started up this massive hill. Training was for nothing as 60% of the people trying to go up the hill stopped in front of me and made me and 99% of everyone else have to stop and walk up it. Good times. Also worth mentioning that every group ride I've done makes the finish line at a brewery where it's a beer replenishment party.

Don't know where all this woman driver stuff came from. When I was a kid both my mom and dad drove. When we were going somewhere I prayed that my mom would drive. My dad grew up working on ranches, riding and breaking horses. He would literally yell whoa! when having to make an emergency braking. I also thought when he drove that the speed of the car was caused by how much he was twitching the steering wheel back and forth.
