Looking at building a sleeved coyote short block. Currently have a line on a reasonable priced bare block. Does the year of the block matter?

Not much from what I remember. 11-12 blocks had bigger head bolts, but that's about it. You can convert a newer block to that style if you're really, really pushing it.

Nope. The major changes to the Coyote in 2015 were all in the head, the shortblock is the same as far as I know.

Keep in mind that the 11-14 blocks have different oil filter mounts than the 15+. Make sure you stick with a block that matches your gen of engine.

Where is the filter on 11-14 blocks?

2018 blocks are probably the only ones with major changes. If you are sleeving it probably doesn't make a whole lot of difference as that's the main weakness. But I have heard of blocks cracking in the valley. Not sure if any year is more susceptible or less susceptible.

Don't '15 and up blocks have provisions for oil squirters?

I thought oil squirters were dropped in 2013, maybe someone can confirm.

The 2015+ blocks have piston squirters as well.

I just ordered a new short block. As a few others have mentioned, oil filter adapter is in fact different. Make sure to get the right one for your gen.

What will happen if you get a different gen? Oil filter wont fit? JPC may be putting a shortblock in my car and they plan on using a 11-14 block.

I replaced the stock short block in my 15 Hellion car with the 11-14(gen 1) alluminator short block.

It will work but you have to use the right filter adapter .

Lol....that blew up too so I replaced it with a sleeved 5.2/GT 350 heads .

Piston #8 broke . Looked like it was heat /too much timing ?. I replaced the piston and reused the rotating assembly in a brand new 15 block sleeved with ARP main studs(does not come with alluminator) as a spare .

.....but I am now thinking of selling it .It will come with bIllet OPG /CS/oil pan Also have BNIB heads/followers/lifters,cams ,Arp head studs ,head cooling mod/and used timing stuff(new secondary reverse chain bracket) ...every thing you need to build a long block .

Also have another "spare " sleeved block -I sleeved the alluminator block that had pitted cylinder wall/Manley rotating assembly -out a block that cracked /used Oil pump with billet gears / Used ported heads/used timing stuff .

I Only have one set of new cams but I had planned on going aftermarket cams to maximize the ported heads .

As you can see I am doing my best for the environment by reusing stuff that is still good . Lol

Both blocks rebuilt by BES engine
....end shameles plug ;)
