You gotta wonder who voted yes on this poll?
I could tell you but I would hate to start a forum war.

I’ll keep everyone updated on what happens next. Awaiting a call from Xpel corporate.

Also here’s the missing paint after they removed the Xpel. Still hurts me every time I look at it. Really hoping this doesn’t happen to the rest of it if it is re-done.

So they’re saying that they can’t wrap PPF around the hood, yet you can get an entire color wrap to do just that. I’d call them out on their BS
You shouldn’t be able to see the edge of the film at all. That’s just asking for a big ass bug to hit that exact spot and get right under the film.

Sorry, that’s awful that it came out like that. Personally, I wouldn’t give this place another chance. I would be asking for a full refund and take my business elsewhere. Is this place a certified Xpel installer? If so you could probably get some help from Xpel.

I agree. I’ll follow up after speaking with Xpel head office and see what they say or what I should do. Appreciate the feedback. I agree with you.

If you don't like the hood line, you can get a custom cut for full hood. That's what I did to mine, and that's what my installer was willing to do.

I have a complete Hexis Bodyfence wrap on my car (basically same as Xpel Ultimate) and it holds up amazingly!

No scratches, gives the car more shine and you can forget about rock chips or small rocks making dents or scratches on your car.

Let me know if you want pics!

I highly recommend it!

That’s what it was the first time. It wasn’t until they re did the work that they cut at the edge.

Quick update for everyone. Talked to Xpel corporate rep for the area. They have to be pretty middle of the road but they agreed that the job may not be what they expect. Went to two other shops, got told they could do a much better job. Worked it out with the owner and it is going to one of the other shops to be re-done. When it was being looked at yesterday we found one knife mark so far where they cut the paint when trimming the film.

Can't say I am happy but once this gets all resolved and done properly there shouldn't be any issues,

Also, the original shop is a certified Xpel installer.

Yea not done well. i have had my 3/4 of my car wrapped in Xpel with the hood edges and did not look anything like this Job. My new Grabber Blue is wrapped 3/4 in the new 3m Pro PPF with hood edges and looks great and a bit more glossy then the Xpel.

So I finally have an update. Can’t say it’s a good one. This nightmare doesn’t seem to end.

Dealing with the second shop was pretty pleasant. They didn’t really want to touch another shops work but they agreed to. They started to remove the film on the car and then stopped. The second shop said they can’t dedicate any more guys to this so they called the first shop and they had their guy come back while I was there to keep removing. I hated the way he was doing it but what could I do. He doesn’t end up finishing so there is still the trunk, rest of the hood and mirrors. Worse than that when they removed the hood some paint came off the underside of the hood. This was on a Thursday. I tried to get in contact with the original shop as I was leaving for vacation on Saturday for a week when I was hoping they could finish the job. On Friday I called the second shop and they said the first shops guy was supposed to be there at 12 to remove the rest. I check in at 4pm and the guy never shows. Since I was leaving in a few hours I took an Uber back there and removed the film myself to ensure the process didn’t stall. I finally reached the first shop owner and he said he would take the hood to get painted again while I was away. The second shop told me to enjoy my vacation and not to worry.

I leave on Saturday and get an update from the first shop on Monday (a holiday) that they are taking it the next day to the body shop. I didn’t want to bother anyone so I don’t think they realized but the 2018 has GPS tracking so I followed it from Florida. Doesn’t leave the shop until Thursday and it goes to the body shop. Funny enough I messaged the first shop owner on Wednesday and asked how the body shop had gone. He said well. (At that time it had not left yet). The car arrives back later that afternoon. I assume repainted. That gives them Friday to work on it plus all of the days prior they missed.

They told me the wet sanding happened earlier in the week to remove the two scratches we had found from the exacto knife. They also said the residue had to be removed and the original shop owner had polished the car. I think the second shop had every intention to start Friday but they told me the polishing wasn’t good and they had to call him back.

I’m assuming that one of two things happened. Either the second shop didn’t do the work they told me they were going to do and relied on the first shop to come back and fix it, which was something I expressed I did not want prior to leaving as I did not trust them with the car. That or the first shop did not want to pay the second shop for the work and held up the process.

So basically I was gone an entire week when this was supposed to be done. No idea the condition of the car. Writing this from the back of an Uber trying to figure out what has happened.

The saga continues and I plan on picking up the car and meeting with the first shop to get a refund for everything plus talk about the depreciated value they placed on my car and the constant headache this has been. Car is eight weeks old and has been at the first detailer for 9 days including Sunday’s and the second shop for 8. Really sick of this.

Don't get the repainted areas covered right away, this could cause more issues down the road. It takes a few weeks for the paint to properly outgas which lets it cure properly.

I had my mustang done in xpel. There are a couple tough areas, my guy told me that the hood is one of the tougher hoods to do. Id complain, a lot of those areas should not look like that.
