WTH is this?…

Hey guys, could really help some help here… from time to time I find these things on the passenger side floor mat. Any idea what it is? It only shows up in my Mustang, not the other car in the garage. And it’s hard, it doesn’t squish when I squeeze it, it takes both hands to break it. And there no damage I see inside the car or in the engine bay. Also, it’s not something someone is tracking it.

My wife does every once in a while, but the times I've found this she hasn't ridden in the car, so no one.

Did you go looking immediately after she gets out?

I'd say it's a seed, and it's sticking to her shoes. She picks them up somewhere/somehow and tracks them into the car.

since its a vert it could be anything if you drive w/top down a lot.. . like if u leave in garage does it show up if it just sits there?

some type of seed ? if so that might indicate mice etc.
Also take a look at the cabin filter if it under dash on passengers side too because mice love that filter area. ( I m assuming that where that filter is like other cars)

If you have pine trees where you live it could be a hard “leaf” from a pine cone which the squirrels disassemble into shreds. I get em all the time and that’s exactly what they look like. They track in on shoes.

Yeah... I've been watch, when she gets out, there won't be anything there, then a few days later, it shows up automagically.

Mice/rats in the rafters above where the car is stored. Dropping seeds into it.

It's in the garage, but these things show up both when I've had the top up and down.

I thought about that too, or birds maybe flying in and out (though I've never seen any), but it happens when the top is up too.
