Has anyone on here ever used one of these Winters Quick change Diffs? Clearly it’s been done before because you can buy a modified rear subframe to work with it.
Do I need one, no of course not, but it is damn cool.
After 40 years of Racing Stock Cars, I can say I ran a quick change rear in about 35 of those seasons. Fixed, Rebuilt, Straightened many.
As I recall you could order these rears with either a 4.11 R&P, or a 4.86 R&P. Of course the final gear ratio depended on the 2 spur gears you loaded in from the rear.
There are a couple of Main advantages to using this type of rear-end.
You can get the Exact final gear ratio you are looking for, anywhere from the 2’s to the 7’s
You can change the final ratio on these rears, in a matter of minutes.
Many believe that because there is more rotating weight with the quick change rear it robs some horsepower. Also, this setup isn’t really for street use, as some of these can be quite noisy.
