Watching it like a hawk. All the plugs looked great after this incident. Once I put everything back together it fired right up and drove like it never happened. Iām thinking I could have possibly over-serviced the cooling system when I first fired the car. Looked like it puked maybe 1/4-1/2...
Nothing but an uphill battle today. Broke the belt for the 4ā pulley on the first rip. Replaced it with a continental belt because thatās all I could get, made a rip to 8k and it puked coolant out of the degass bottle.
We thought for sure we must have lifted a head. We couldnāt believe it...
Really? The 4 bolt one actually had two machined socket head cap screws that acted as alignment dowels on the under side of the flange and then the 4 bolts you could see. That one was bought late last year from modern driveline.
As far as I understand the only way to adjust pinion angle on...
I reached out to Ben at Fat fab and he had never seen one fail at all, much less like this one did. So despite the bad taste left by the last one I decided to just let modern driveline warranty it. They wanted the broken parts so they could investigate why it possibly failed but they couldnāt...
Remember when I said weād revisit the driveshaft/trans? Now is as good of a time as any. Back before I started assembling this car, I blew up the stock clutch, she made it 80k miles trouble free and then just gave up. So In an effort to keep the car up and running while other parts were still...
Another update; cars been driving great, ready to make some WOT pulls for Lund but still waiting on my replacement driveshaft. Also been chasing a terrible belt squeal from the procharger drive system. Got the laser alignment tool out and confirmed my suspicions. The head unit pulley had a...
Well todays findings are that ID1700x and pump 91 are no bueno. Wide bands were trimming so much fuel they would just give up and time out. E85 permanently I guess. Not the end of the world, I would have liked to have the option to use 91 in an emergency though.
Thanks! We were all laughing yesterday as I shut the hood and started pulling her off the lift. Car looks bone stock from the outside, like I was never there. š
Well, sheās alive! It wasnāt without a fuss though. MMR fudged and sent me a 18+ crank trigger wheel so after chasing my tail for an extra day and having to pull the trans, bellhousing, clutch and flywheel back off, she fired right up. Absolutely pig rich so Iāll deal with that tomorrow with...
Whatever you do, do not use a snapon thread restore somewhere you canāt get at very well. Youāll be pulling your whole driveline if you do.
Got it repaired though. Carbide drill bit for the win.
Iām back to where I was before catastrophe struck. Hopefully first start up in a day or two.
He did a great job. I measured the exhaust port opening compared to a gen3 motor we have on the stand. The stock port was about 1.25ā and my ported one were about 1.55ā. The intake ports were slightly larger as well but I canāt remember the numbers off the top of my head.
Itās been a minute, but a ton of progress has been made! Hopefully firing her up this week.
cylinder heads finally showed up. This was the last piece of the puzzle thatās been keeping the car on the lift. Ferrera valves, pac 1234 springs, and obviously cnc ported.
Got the heads torqued...
Has anyone on here ever used one of these Winters Quick change Diffs? Clearly itās been done before because you can buy a modified rear subframe to work with it.
Do I need one, no of course not, but it is damn cool. š
