Interesting. I think the weather mode on the GT350 must be very different, because I haven't had any of the problems you listed.
? Your throttle response is not significantly dulled?

Mine with a set of Blizzaks actually handles much better than my girls 2015 Taurus and my previous '06 impala. But can have a hell of a lot more fun than both of them if wanted ;)

Seriously, a set of winter tires will put the car into a whole nother ball park in the snow. Not dry traction ballpark, but if all you've ever driven was All-Seasons in snow...whole new game. I love my parking lot at my apartment. Cars stuck all around me: camry's, hondas, SUV's. Some even making snide remarks about the mustang in the snow. But it has yet to not back straight out of the parking spot on me!

I've said this until I'm blue in the face; there is absolutely no issue with driving a Mustang year 'round. It's a car just like any other. Just like an Accord, just like a Camry.

It's all about the tires. It's not about AdvanceTrack, it's not about RWD, it's not about horse power, it's about the tires.

Put the right tires on, and they're GTG in any weather. Genuine winter tires are amazing, light years better than all-seasons. And forget about summer only high performance tires, they just don't work. I got stuck in some icy slush last week, and had to walk the last 1.5 miles to work.:lol:

I wouldn't hesitate to say my Mustang with winters handles better than any FWD car I've ever had with all seasons. My Jetta has DWS06's on it and I managed to get it to spin at the bottom of my driveway. My Mustang chewed right through the same spot. My wife's Sonata with WinterContact's is a thing of beauty in snow. I haven't been able to get it to slide yet - and I've tried.

I actually just had this argument with a friend who drives a subaru with garbage AS tires. He was complaining that if he was having issues there's no way I could drive it. Seriously, if you care about your car/safety in snow...drop the extra $1k-$2k and buy yourself another set of wheels with rubber wrap on them and throw UHP summers on the other set of wheels. :thumbsup: As I've always said, it's not about the power. It's about how the rubber connects to the road. All the power in the world does you no good without tires.

It's amazing how often rubber is overlooked.

I actually just had this argument with a friend who drives a subaru with garbage AS tires. He was complaining that if he was having issues there's no way I could drive it. Someone who only uses AS tires is going to be very hard to convince designated summer and winter tires are worth it because they have never experienced the crazy control difference for themselves and assume all tires are the same. I have told friends to get snow tires till I was blue in the face and they still doubted me, but 1 drive on snow tires in snow and they are like "WTF, why didn't you tell me about snow tires!?" It's like saying "Ehh, I don't want to sleep with chicks to get off, my hand is just fine" but give it a try, I bet you are wrong lmao.

I don't care if you drive a Mustang or a Prius, you need snow tires if you live in a snow state. I am surprised people don't get tickets and blamed at fault for accidents in the winter for running improper tires.

Seriously though I have dedicated summers and am using AS for the winter. However, I only drive the car on dry days when the roads are clear of snow and salt. I have a beater for the rest of the time. Still the AS tires are "adequate". When they wear out I'll move to something like Blizzaks for cold months and UHP for summer.

How useful is that Snow Mode ? Does it do anything other than reduce throttle response?
I have used the snow mode the past two winters. It impacts throttle response, power, traction control and stability control.

I picked up my car the first week of January 15 and we proceeded have the worest winter in Boston's recorded history and had plenty of opportunity to use it. I basically started the car and switched to snow mode every time I went until the snow went away in late March.

The first chance I got with a snow covered road and no traffic I tried it out. I tried to launch hard and the tires started to slip and immediately the power was pulled back and the traction control stopped the wheel spin. I was able to keep the gas floored but the rpms only increased as much as the available traction allowed. The few times I fish tailed the stability control pulled the car back into line. I hit a bare patch of road and the car immediately rocketed away.

You can certainly can control the car with judicious use of the throttle but the snow mode makes it easy. I find snow mode to be more useful than sport or track modes for daily driving.

Someone who only uses AS tires is going to be very hard to convince designated summer and winter tires are worth it because they have never experienced the crazy control difference for themselves and assume all tires are the same. I have told friends to get snow tires till I was blue in the face and they still doubted me, but 1 drive on snow tires in snow and they are like "WTF, why didn't you tell me about snow tires!?" Exactly my experience too. I would also say that even if you don't get much snow but the temperature is regularly below freezing you need them too.

I had winters on my EBM last winter, and they worked great. When I traded up to my GT, they went with the EBM, so I was back to one set of wheels. Thought I'd try to survive on A/S (Conti DWS06). Our very first snow storm this year was all it took to convince me that I needed to buy the dedicated winter set. So my contis are in the garage, and I have my winter wheels/tires on. Such a difference the next storm... Totally worth it.

I always tell people...all season tires are like walking shoes. They're ok for walking and running, but not good at either.
