Blizzak ws80's make a world of difference the car is predicable and fun ! The esp and traction control keeps it from get to crazy. i dont have snow and ice mode so my right foot is snow and ice mode. 8" of fresh Denver Snow last weekend snow did not stop the car, though I wish I did not get a 40 profile tires so I could have some extra ground clearance. It was making it though sections of 6-7 inches of fresh snow on pavement with little issue.

I added 2 50lb bags of salt in the trunk and I feel that it has helped a decent amount, car feels slightly more planted when going around turns, and I have the stock A/S tires. I feel that having a little weight in the trunk allows me to turn just a bit faster without sliding compared to the same turn without any weight in the trunk.

I always feel the same. Feels like the backend carries longer than it should. But downshifting to second and punching it probably doesn't help either. :shrug: :shrug:

When had my last GT ('95) with Blizzaks I would put the weight in the rear passenger foot wells. If I put it in the trunk it seems that the nose lifted too much and steering suffered (along with the rear momentum described by others).

Give it a try - moves the weight forward and lower...all good things.

I agree about Snow Tires - even with my '95 that had NO ESP or TracControl with good snow tires it was amazing how well it got around in the Iowa snow.

stock tires on those wheels were 235/50/18s, why would you get a lower profile tire? tall and narrow is what you want on a snow tire

235/50/R18 were briefly sold out along with 235/55/R18 when i went to buy bizzaks for sale on-sale online October. I just decided to pull the trigger rather then wait and pay $100 bucks more for the correct profile.

gotcha, glad to see you are enjoying the car in the snow, most people think a mustang is useless in the snow...with summer tires it sure is..amazing what a difference a winter tire makes! if i still lived in ny i'd be rocking snows and daily driving it in the winter

Winter only. I'd never choose to drive on summers that skinny! :lol: The fact that Ford put a 235 width tire on the GT is still nuts, given the power and how heavy the car is. Bean counters won.

For winter you don't want a big wide tire, as it's hard to get through deeper snow that way. Too narrow and you sacrifice too much grip on dry roads, but they work well for winter. I'm on Blizzak WS80s of that size.

Amen brother...it was 45 here yesterday so I took the Mustang out for a drive - had not been out for a couple weeks. Topped off with fresh fuel and "warmed" the tires up a bit

Today - blowing cold and snow...sigh guess with will be a few more weeks before I get another turn in the ole girl :headbonk:
