Hey everyone! Bought a 2018 GT with the 401A package and it has the 19” rims. 19,000 miles. It currently has the Michelin Pilot Sport tires on the back. They are getting real close to the replacement marks so looking for different tires. The fronts were just put on by previous owner and are new.

The rears are 275/40/19.
What is the recommendation for a cold weather tire? Wife drives this car daily and will drive my 4WD pickup if the roads get icy etc. Are the Michelin tires on it okay to drive on during the winter months or no?

Thanks in advance.

You're gonna have to pony up and buy some killer winter tires. The better the tire, the better the traction.
Case in point,.......dude at work has an older Charger. Puts "okay" winter tires on it. I ask him how well it goes. He says if he gets stuck, he's done. lol
Good luck!

I like to go to tirerack.com to read the reviews on the tires before buying them, even if I am not buying them there. Just use the reviews and ratings to your advantage.

Thanks. Just to make sure we’re on the same page, she won’t drive this car in “winter weather”. Ie- snow, ice etc. Just in cold weather. Does Michelin make a A/S tire by chance?

Ahhhhhh, my bad.
Definitely check out the website and you can type in your tire size and the tires should show up. It's great for using as a reference.

The Pilot Sports are definitely not a good idea for any kind of inclement weather. Even the stock Pirelli all seasons suck in anything but dry conditions.

Depending on how much you like the 19s, I'd recommend going for a cheap set of 18s and a good set of winter tires. Smaller diameter is always better for winter tires, and the tires will be cheaper too. I just picked up a set of stock size Bridgestone Blizzaks (235/50/18) for $550 or so on Amazon. They'll be going on the OEM rims in a couple weeks.

Yes. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 is an excellent ultra high performance all season tire.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Plus

Best Ultra High Performance All Season tire out there hands down.

today i installed a set of 305/35 20s Michelin A/S 4's on the rear wheels. A/S 4's don't come in a 285/35 20 so i installed a set of the AS 3+ on the front. i made the switch for the coming cold winter temps and the occasional 2-4 inches of snow we might get in North Texas. i had a gentle reminder during a recent cold spell that the PilotSport P2s don't grip as well when the temp in 50 degrees or lower.

I certainly hope you checked with Michelin before do that. Mixing tires like that can really screw up a cars handling. And I do not mean the tire dealer, I mean Michelin directly.

thanks for the concern; it's ok per Michelin tire rep. The A/S 4 replaces the A/S 3+, and load ratings for both sets are consistent with Ford Tire specs.
