On the vert do you mean windshield or side? What are the night issues your friend experienced with top down and was it urban or rural night ? Thanks.Something that should be considered is how much night driving you are doing.
I have xpel 5% sides and back and front at 50% and I love it. Sometimes I wish I went 35% on the front. I have been pulled over by the staties ,not for windows, nothing was said about the windows, but I roll both windows down when I get pulled over.
If the car is sitting in the sun it's hot inside. When I drive into the sun so glad I have the tint. No need for sunglasses.
Make sure you get a quality installer. I found a great local guy from California in my area who even shaved the tint on the side. Other guys in my area didn't have a clue.
As for night driving: if you go dark like I did in an urban environment it's not to bad but you better pay attention because it can be a pain to see at night. I live in rural area and night driving sucks when I have to make a turn.
If you have a convertible I wouldn't tint the front if you do any driving at night with the top down. You will not see at all as a friend of mine found out the hard way.

It's been awhile but I'll ask my friend again but it was the windshield. I'll post in a day or two what he said.On the vert do you mean windshield or side? What are the night issues your friend experienced with top down and was it urban or rural night ? Thanks.

I also have 20. I feel that’s the sweet spot. And agree, ceramic is a great. Had my car parked outside all day with the afternoon sun blasting through my driver side window the other day. Steering wheel was not remotely hot to the touch. Can’t say enough good things about ceramic tintJust bought my new to me Mach 1 on Thursday evening and went Friday afternoon for my tint appt. Went 20 on this car, 5% on my old mustang. I much prefer the look of 20, looks great but not too dark. And ceramic is awesome on a hot day...

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it? Where I live, it's not really needed functionally, but I have buddies who won't stop busting my balls for driving a fishbowl to car meets.Just bought my new to me Mach 1 on Thursday evening and went Friday afternoon for my tint appt. Mine was $400. XPel Prime XR Plus. 4 side windows and rear windshield. Local detail shop that does a lot of high end cars and exotics. If you also do the front windshield, $600 sounds about rightIf you don't mind me asking, how much was it? I've only gotten one quote, but I felt like $600 for sides and rear windows was expensive.
$330 out the door. Sides and rear windshield with 20% ceramic and lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.. Took them less than 2 hours. High volume shop with multiple people working on it at one time.If you don't mind me asking, how much was it?
