Why the V6 is the Best Choice

:cheers:I didn't even get into warranty The 3.7 represents a huge value for the money and it cant be beat at that price point by anything considering the quality of the car and engine but I cant see many people going into the dealer to buy the 3.7 only to then drop it off at a shop and spend $7000+ cash on mods. Not trying to flame or anything but I was in the position of "should I procharge or trade in for a GT" and that's how I ended up with everything, I spent a lot of time and thinking about it. I also was thinking of doing a full bolt on build as well but again it just didn't interest me at the time, probably because the car in stock form was so good already haha :cheers:

I just checked the 3.7 vs GT in KBB, 2011 both base cars etc, the 3.7 trade in was 13500 or so and the GT was at almost 20000. The six gen cars should hold value even better though, will be interesting to see if the eco has an effect on prices.

13500 and 20000 sounds about right. Isn't that the difference between the two models in the first place?

The V6 is a curious case for value though because it might be getting axed. Dunno if that makes it go up or down.

Fwiw. I bought a brand new brz last year and supercharged it within 800 miles...
Really not a big deal. Plus, you can take it off prior to selling the car.

But yeah that's what I was trying to say price wise, after 4-5 years there is still a sizable gap which covers most of the sticker price difference. I think the V6 will hold its value regardless of what happens. I know the dealer sold my 14 for $22,000 just recently

Haha yeah, I drove one and they are pretty nice, but in Florida you never really have to turn

I went with the EB because I like tuning cars, coming from a forced induction background. You can spend very little money and really wake up the EB, making more power but more importantly keeping the power through longer RPM's. That is just not something you can do with the V6 without spending some serious coin IMO.

Also, I wanted the options on the PP. The 3.55 gears but also the suspension mods but most importantly the GT brakes, throw in the sweet 19's on summer tires and it's a great deal. You cant get the PP on the V6, so it was an easy choice for me.

And while the V6 may be linear, I really like the "surging" drive of forced induction. HP for HP, I think the forced induction cars are more "fun" to drive.

And I am buying my EB with PP package for below 26k, not 31k......

I liked my car a lot but I wanted more power and the recaro seats. The sixth gen cars are also leaps and bounds better overall than the 11-14's.

...One other thing I think that is overlooked is resale/KBB, etc. the GT is quite a bit more money but it will also have more value down the road, subtract that gap between the two from the GT MSRP and be difference wouldn't be so big ( though if you finance there would be more interest expense on the larger loan amounts of course). When I bought my 3.7 I didn't even consider the GT because I thought it would cost too much, but in my case it barely costs more ( the roll over killed me though)...

I personally think there are too many variables to even consider "resale value" as a justification for purchasing a more expensive car. This is something a salesperson would say to try and nudge you towards something he's trying to move. While the car is on the lot it is in the best condition it'll ever be (minus possible slight imperfections as noted by a number of purchasers). What happens to it after that is a complete unknown. Very possible a pristine v6 down the road sells for more than a beat up v8. You just don't know what will befall your car. The only thing you do know is how much you'll pay up front. Unless of course you don't plan on driving the car... but then again, maybe a big sink hole will open up and swallow the car.

I'm not using resale value to justify buying a more expensive vehicle, more of a cost of ownership sort of thing. I think when comparing the costs of the two models, say over four years of ownership, resale value should be a big part of it, of course though that would be too easy haha.

Well for me as I've said many times, the V6 is perfect for me. Now that I'm getting to know my car I'm finding it's even more satisfying than I thought. I won't be modding the engine too much and it has more than enough power so my mods would go for efficiency over much higher horsepower. I drove with the windows open today- radio off and I love the sound of the exhaust. The engine is quiet but what you do hear , we'll it's enjoyable. I'm not racing my car or driving like a maniac on the roads. When I find a good twisty road I'll have all the fun I need.. I love this car, and intend to keep it a very long time so I'm not worried about resale or Ford discontinuing the V6. I'm happy with the car. Maybe that sounds too simplistic but it is the truth.

Stam, you encourage me. I watch what your opinions are and I'm glad the V6 works for you. I hope it will work for me. I'm mostly afraid of not getting newer technology. But I really didn't care for the eB I drove overnight. The first gear was a drag.

I'm the same exact way. V6 is perfect for me. I came from driving "slow" cars so this one feels like a rocket to me. Maybe part of the secret is to never drive the GT. I'm looking to keep it stock as possible for a long time also.... maybe just the exhaust. Even though the stock exhaust is actually pretty good the roush + headers combo has me drooling.

I haven't had any complaints yet. Slam on the gas I don't want to go faster I think damn this is awesome. I sit in the car I don't want heated seats, the seats aren't cold. Got everything I was looking for - bluetooth, backup camera, keyless entry/start, etc.

I also want to keep the car for a long time which is why I opted for the V6.

I have to say, it isn't the GT that confuses me. That car is great, but it is also 200 lbs heavier and costs more money in a dozen different ways.
